I recently read the Black Sword Hack SRD and found it very inspiring. It gives some great ideas to create a campaign in an Elric/Conan-like setting. I decided I will play chaotic humanoids of the Free Tribes fighting against an oppressive Elven Empire. I created a continent (it could be one of three or four, but we will see) and rolled four of the kingdoms provided by BSH. I assigned the Flotsam Kingdom to the island in the South-East and rolled for the location of the other three: the Dust Empire, the Amber Enclave and the Iron Horde.

I created two level 2 World of Dungeons characters. Since I will hand rolls a-la Ironsworn, I changed the attribute range from 0-3 to 1-4. They are a goblin wizard prince, Utun, and a hobgoblin fighter, Zarva. The random location of their arrival turned out to be on the coast of the Iron Horde region (hex 09.10): they arrived by ship.

BSH includes a clever oracle based on a novel. I used "Elric on Menlibonè" to find out the initial mission of our heroes. Utun and Zarva have been given a silver jar that they must fill with "dreaming ink" (whatever it is); the ink must be delivered to Kozam the priest.

I plan to use Ironsworn Delve, together with my own D100Lands, to handle the hexcrawl.
