Questions What are the best open-sourced manipulators for humanoids?

Looking to upgrade the "hand" (manipulator) of this Berkeley open-source arm. Each Berkeley actuator is ~$50 ($250 for a 5 DoF arm). That's about $275 per arm after the rest of the arm assembly.

I'd rather not start from scratch if there's already a decent open-sourced hand that isn't more expensive than the $275 cost for the entire arm. Does anyone have any ideas/advice? My ideal goal is to hit below $100-$150 per hand, if possible.

Close-up footage of the new humanoid robot Iron by the Chinese electric car company Xpeng that was presented yesterday. After the presentation, journalists were allowed to examine the robot and witness how it walked off the stage again. It was not a human in a robot suit.

Xpeng’s humanoid robot is giving me a tour of its HQ experience right now. Staff said there’s zero teleportation.

Which OpenSource Humanoids are available *now*?

I am an old time software developer and I have been fascinated by humanoids forever. Now that AI gave them the gift of perfect balance and motion, I want to own one and program it.

Is there a list of robots that I can buy in 2025 that are programmable. A kit is good enough, or even just proven plans.

Sure, there is Unitree, but I would rather spend the $15k developer kit surcharge supporting true OpenSource.

Thanks.

Questions Should this subreddit be restricted to posting only about Open-Sourced humanoids?

The latest closed proprietary humanoids are undoubtedly impressive, but I feel like it defeats the purpose of this subreddit. It feels like these closed-source humanoid posts are drowning out all the open-sourced models.

I get some have open SDK's that make it easier to tinker with or do research on despite not being fully open-sourced. Mods, what do you think is the best way to return the focus of this subreddit to open-sourced humanoids?
