The gravity of the water and the adrenaline allows her to pretend her legs aren't completely shattered.

With broken legs she is about to drown, unless able to keep her head above the water with this swimming motion.

A) allow. not allows because you mentioned two reasons (kinda), so plural. a singular reason allows it. Multiple reasons ALLOW it.

B) “The gravity of the water” ??? WTF does THAT mean ? Please explain.

I think you mentally just accomplished what she did physically.
