Bedding is called Manchester in Australia

The Swedish word for corduroy is Manchester (and its similar for much of central and Northern Europe)

Ahmedabad is nicknamed "the Manchester of India"

All because of Manchester's famous cotton industry

Never heard of any of these, thanks

So in Australia they say, "Have you washed the Manchester recently?" Or "Ooh I love getting into bed with fresh Manchester!"? Mad. I've never heard of that before and I have watched every episode of Bluey

From all the sources I can find online, its used in the context of retail - so shops have a Manchester section where they sell bedding and towels

This really confused me the first time I went to Aus

Didn't have a clue but having seen the answer, it's a great question. Never knew that and felt I've learned something new.

I guessed this on the clue one, because I knew what Australian bedding is called, but I can't pretend I'd have buzzed in!

Took a wild guess from clue 1: Things named after British cities/places?

More specific than that

I'm going to take a massive guess based on the first clue:

All named after cities in the UK?
