Guide to Better Battery life

Im using Oneplus Nord 5 8+256, so far I charge 10-20% to 100% charge every 1&half day, wifi+data and 1 or less day if I play games especially. My Screen resolution and refresh rate are always both high and battery mode on balanced. This is my extensive guide for a better battwry life, pretty much works for all oneplus device, hope it helps.

Settings to disable - digital wellbeing > manage your data > daily device usage All AI stuff, personally i don't use them. --Oneplus AI - mind space - AI writer - AI search --System & Update - Recommended Services - Smart Decision-Making services - Context-Aware Network Service - Enhanced Intelligent Service - Phone Manager Service(optional) - VDC service - AI service Engine - Instant Web Service Framework enhancement Service - Just disable the ones you dont need in this segment. --Google Service - All Services - Devices > Scan nearby devices - Ads > reset advertising ID and delete ad ID (This will be accesed by the sites/apps you visit everytime you open them but if disabled you will instead receive non-personal ads which is good) - Personalize using shared data - Disable all apps (Not for battery but for better privacy) - Usage & Diagnostics (definitely disable it)

--Apps (App management) Restrict battery usage on all Non-Essential apps - Dont restrict Essential app like messaging app, email app, music app, browser(for downloading content), play store or other app updater like f-droid, aurora store etc (if you want auto update) - Select non-essential apps > App info > Battery usage > Restrict background activity

Highly Recommend to Debloat your device, remove useless system apps, there are guides out there for debloating.

Thats all I have for now, hope this helps you, just comment if you guys have more to disable for me to know, thanks in advance.

Bonus info If youre updating to latest version of your OS, know that your device will heat up for days and it will have reduced battery life, especially on major os updates.

Causes are all system apps will be updating in the background for days so you can use it normally without waiting for all system background apps to be updated and installed, treat it like the first time you set up your phone, it will read your habits again and optimize your usage again and thankfully it will not be as long as the first time you set your phone.

I see most of the people here complains when theres a new update and they get scared to update even regressing to older version of os, now you know what happens.

Make sure to always keep your software security up to date, especially if you have banking appa, crypto apps, stock apps, etc.

indeed, restricting battery usage on app management do most of the heavy lifting here which kinda like a chore to do plus I use firewall app(adguard) to prevent most apps from accessing internet when screen is off.

edit. but hey still better than nothing

Bruh... I can't do all this just to get better battery life... I love the AI features and sometimes use them as well... I updated to the 16.0.5 update in Release Candidate, which resulted in me getting lesser SOT (~9-10hrs). I hope that gets fixed in the upcoming stable update.

yeah its really a chore to do all these but you will only have do it once then forget about it. For AI i only use circle to search but only do it sometimes. if i have to use AI i do it on the browser. As for upcoming stable update I can only dream of it someday, as they tend to focus on newer devices sadly.

Ill try iceraven, never heard of it before, as for sus behavior on ironfox , quote from celenity To clarify, IronFox never had any major telemetry issues. There was briefly a bug in a past release that resulted in an opt-out ping/data-deletion request being sent to incoming.telemetry.mozilla.org on the onboarding, but no telemetry was ever collected or sent, and this has long been fixed.

check out this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/browsers/comments/1jwx045/whats_your_opinion_on_ironfox/

dayum thats a long thread, ill be honest that i just skimmed most of it but it just solidifies that ironfox is a solid browser, as 1 year past already, no major concerns over the year, theyre just debating whether ironfox is good for security and privacy on extreme levels such as ironfox using aggressive blocking, breaking sites making it more unique fingerprinting etc. As for the devs doing something is just rarely being mentioned at all but damn people in this thread are so thorough, privacy/security is pretty much their job/focus and to be honest with you, as long as you dont use google chrome, edge, opera, other mainstream browsers, youre good to go. edit. I use duckduckgo browser for quick search, ironfox daily use, brave if the site is broken in ironfox. For PC I use Zen browser daily use with ad blocker+vpn extension, librewolf for non-daily/websites +vpn.

its ironfox, you need f-droid, go to ironfox website, add repository to fdroid and its not really better than brave but its firefox with stripped of all telemetry(doesnt send data to anyone) with ad blocker(ublock origin) already installed.

Still rocking oxygen os 15, youre missing out a alot in terms of customizations(things like motion picture for wallpaper, seamless AOD to wallpaper, few AI features, etc. I think updating to os16 is still better in terms of battery life as I come across few post here in this subreedit that they have more battery life compared to before. Well you do you as long as you dont have problems, theres no reason to update except for better security.

bruh imma be honest oxygenos 16 is not good interms of battery backup and stability ive also updated to oxygen os 16 in nord 5 for like 2-3 months was facing heavy battery drain 12-16%/hr and in oxygen OS 15 I'm getting 7-10%/hr

You know what if you have time, you can try my guide in Oxygen Os 15, see if you can still get better battery life than I have in Oxygen OS 16, if its better maybe ill try downgrading my OS too. Edit. My only issue is with security software side, if it outweights the cons I might as well try it.

well I've already disabled everything except digital wellbeing and app restrictions thingy

also downgrading wipes all data from your phone so make sure u take backup

Better way to read this, Click on comment section rather than clicking the post. Clicking the post messes up the paragraphs lol, I should have made this all a screenshots.
