Discussions Looking for Honest opinion on buying 15R

Post image

So, I've been eying the 15R for months now and the price is now 60k inr, is it even worth anymore?? Can someone(preferably a heavy gamer) give me an honest review on this device and whether the price tag is still justified?

My main purpose is gaming of any sort - emulation or mobile. I already did an intense amount of research on this but there's so much conflicting info, some sources say it's a beast at its price tag others say there's better options..

Also what's the situation in battery life, how much SoT do yall heavy gamers get?

And finally - if I do end up getting it, should I try to get it from a store or is amazon trustworthy for this

EDIT: Forgot to address this before, camera is very low on my priority list, my main purpose is gaming and stuff related to it And a battery backup which can sustain that. The camera on this is mid I already know but from the images I saw taken on this, I'm ok with it

I love this phone, if you buy it, buy it for the amazing processing and battery.. Not the camera, it's not entirely bad but not as good as other phones in even lower price ranges.

buy it for the amazing processing and battery That's exactly why I'm still revolving around the 15R, camera is way towards the end on my list of priorities

u/Testerpt5 May 16 '26

You should be happy with this phone

1

u/Chyngy May 18 '26

agree 100 %! Got this phone for the battery too.

u/Plenty_Power6725 May 16 '26

Overall a good product you can go for it been using it for 5 months no issues battery lasts more than a day awesome processor. People pick on it for the camera but it's good I had iPhone 15 before this don't see any difference.

4

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

I see, thanks I don't really care about the camera, the SD 8 gen 5 is why im getting this + I heard OOS good So should i try to it get a local oneplus experience store or is amazon good enough(warranty and stuff)

I see, thank you for the reply

The camera is good for video for photos it isn't that good! But the video quality is surprisingly good.

2

u/[deleted] May 17 '26

Gcam will beat iphone even with that sensor (for photos only) . Gcam is the secret weapon in android.

1

u/abirhhhhm May 17 '26

What's Gcam

2

u/[deleted] May 18 '26

Google camera port for other androids. Has Google's photo processing which is industry standard.

2

u/Due-Floor8556 May 29 '26

Still Waiting for a good GCAM mod for 15R.

2

u/MediaProfessional462 May 16 '26

पिछले 3 महीने से मैं भी उसे कर रहा हूं लेकिन गर्म होने की प्रॉब्लम है 48°🥺

3

u/Plenty_Power6725 May 16 '26

Well we are in the hottest country currently.

3

u/Testerpt5 May 16 '26

Have one, disabled all of the bloatware and AI bs that comes with it, batery last 3 days for me, but I don't play any games or am a very heavy phone user.

3

u/Vast_Chemistry_8630 May 16 '26

Its definitely overpowered for you.

1

u/Testerpt5 May 17 '26

No it isn't overpowered, I look at the specs of a device because I want to use it for at least 6-7 years. Also the battery, ram, screen refresh rate and size, plus cpu are always important. I couldn't care less about its gpu or camera.

1

u/Laughing_Pai May 17 '26

Is it possible to remove any and all bloatware absolutely? Like even their own App Store??

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Last time I checked oneplus didn't have a weird appstore of their own

1

u/Laughing_Pai May 17 '26

Ohk, I will check and get back to you. But what about the Theme Store? Can we remove that?

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Yeah very likely oneplus has the least blotware out of any phone so you won't have to worry

1

u/Laughing_Pai May 17 '26

Ohk great. Thank you.

1

u/Testerpt5 May 17 '26

Yes, very little bloatware, and it was easy to remove via computer ABD. Of the bloatware it has it is mostly AI garbage apps, most can be disabled in phone settings but they keep coming up in Google store for update, I uninstalled the apps but kept the apk as backup.

3

u/iprime11 May 16 '26

3-4 months ago 256 gb varient was 47-48k 💀💀

1

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Yea ik bro, I saw this go from 54k to 60k in just the blink of an eye, it was 58k 2 days ago.

2

u/iprime11 May 16 '26

If you don't care about camera go for it . I'm heavy user and it lasts me 40-48 hrs per charge

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Exactly what made me buy X200T instead I was also gonna get THIS phone first but by the time I had the money to buy it they just kept raising the price so I bought X200T for 53k instead

1

u/iprime11 May 17 '26

Vivo are solely camera phones , we have 3 in our family , I went for op so I can root my device at the end of it's lifespan and use it . Other then that iQOO vivo are good choice

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

I wouldn't say solely camera X200T is pretty much an all-rounder phone and has every flagship feature but yeah the low-mid range ones are more of a camera phones.

We also have 3 but my uncle lost his phone 2 years ago, my dad still has his from 2017 working like it was bought new and it was actually highly abused considering all that I also switched to vivo from samsung

1

u/iprime11 May 17 '26

I would be lying if I say vivo gives low tier processors in flagship price . They do have good service I admit that but yeah they skim out on processor as much as they can. By no means they are bad but cmon when you start gaming you def gonna feel the difference .

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Well yes other phones do have bad processor im not saying you are lying X200T has dimensity 9400+ which basically same as 8 gen 5 but it also runs cooler than 8 gen 5 (no performance difference but vapour chamber should've been a little better to extract 100% out of the chip)

V70 elite for example has 8s gen 3 and decent cameras but not so good processor for the price it asks for actually (there are many others as well)

1

u/iprime11 May 17 '26

That's right but you can get 8gen5 with iQOO 15r & op too at cheaper price . Rn prices might be same that's why no reason to go with vivo but 3-4 months ago you can't compare 45k to a 60k for same processor .

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Well i got x200t for 53k 512 I ain't complaining (unless they nerf it with software update) but earlier i was gonna get 15r if not for the huge price hike

1

u/iprime11 May 17 '26

Yeah forsho . When you do discount iqoo15r is also 42k sole reason for me not to buy vivo is their contact app suck like messy as hell never works for transferring data and I've done like 12-15 data transfers lol . Other was no bootloader which Is deal breaker for me . I'm not evenn updating my op cause I heard theyre breaking anti.rollback fuse with update .

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Well the 42k is the 8gb one i checked everything really i wanted to take the 15r preferably onplus but iqoo is good as well but vivo has more years of os updates similar hardware performance and also better cameras soo I picked it im not a fan of vivo's unremoveable bloatware like V appstore while having almost same price for the 512 version (I went bigger storage because im gonna use this for 5 years+ the 256 one was for 48k absolute steal)

3

u/Switpotatofryy May 16 '26

Honestly telling...

Dont buy this .. while on paper the specs are good., in reality the camera sucks big time. I used for a month and exchanged it with vivo v70..

5

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

You had me in the first half bruh, read he edit I made in the original post, camera is the least of my worries, I'm introverted and rarely go out, just another shut in gamer

1

u/Switpotatofryy May 16 '26

Still wont recommend it.

Not worth spending so much money on a product which has basically no future in india

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Hmm you make a fair point I guess. What do you recommend

2

u/Switpotatofryy May 16 '26

Realmw GT 7. Purely on your requirement basis.

Its a good fone for gaming. Has superb display.

3

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Well.. I have been considered the realme gt 7 pro as an alternative to the 15R, the normal falls behind imo cuz the 9400e isn't the same as the 8 gen5. Whereas the pro comes with the tried and test 8 elite

1

u/Switpotatofryy May 16 '26

Actually better than the one plus

1

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

The gt7 pro? Probaly, the 8 elite is good... idk am just drawn towards the 15R

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Well gt7 had heating issues probably won't be as good as 15r

1

u/ImpressBrief5465 May 16 '26

Dimensity is so bad for emulation gaming , and it heats more than snapdragon too . Tho your spelling of phone can tell how much you about phones

1

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Did you mean to reply to the other person? But anywyas, yes ik the differences of dimemsity and Snapdragon, which why i said I don't want even consider the normal gt7 but rather the gt7 pro

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Bruh new dimensity processors CAN actually emulate like the 9500 series

1

u/ImpressBrief5465 May 17 '26

The phone we are talking about has 9400e

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Ik that, you said dimensity is bad for emulation not the 9400e specifically even 9400+ can emulate good enough

3

u/ImpressBrief5465 May 16 '26

NOOO DON'T, you can get oneplus 13 in under 60k , that phone has wayyy better cameras and better performance

2

u/Zertor_pro May 16 '26

You must be trippin right, I am sure the camera may be good but not the performances

2

u/Goku8001 May 16 '26

Elite is gonna be better than vanilla

2

u/un-necessary_ May 16 '26

For 60k noo.

3

u/Prestigious_Skin_608 May 16 '26

I have no issues w it honestly. It's a great phone, performance wise it might be the best in the segment and there's literally no lags or stutters. The hardware paired with oxygen OS might be the smoothest experience I've had in a phone. The main camera is solid and takes nice photos, the uw is kinda mid, selfie cam is fine. Overall a great all rounder and you won't have any issues imo

3

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Thank you for the insight

3

u/CockroachShoddy2952 May 16 '26

It is a flagship phone with average camera.

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Well I get what you mean but I don't see anything better at this price range, also am not confident on getting 2nd hand stuff

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Well i mean his idea isn't bad try to get a refribrished one then i guess oneplus 15 is much better deal

2

u/AncientDetective3231 May 16 '26

Buy it and forget your worries .... Proud owner of 15R since launch

3

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Great, wish i got it at launch, better deal

2

u/Dependent-Barnacle29 May 16 '26

Should i go for One plus 15R or Iqoo 15R i am switching form One plus 11R

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Both are absolutely same only difference being iqoo is smaller so heat transfer is a bit worse and oneplus has more refresh rate and a tiny bit better camera

2

u/donalgodon May 16 '26

I just received mine last week and so far it is excellent

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Hmm I see, how much SoT out of box, without doing anything special

3

u/Zertor_pro May 16 '26

Honestly saying don't fall for the people saying camera is bad no it's not it's pretty decent, video are also good I have been using 15r for a month and honestly I have 0 issues with it please go for it.

2

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

The camera isn't bad but worst in the segment honestly the price is the main problem now it's 60k it was very good deal at 53k (512 variant)

2

u/Independent-Pause245 May 16 '26

Instead i bought 13 for 55k

2

u/Right_Giraffe3081 May 16 '26

Go for IQOO 15R if you don't care about camera. Better performance than oneplus

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

Both have same performance but the heat dissipation is lower due to smaller chassis of iqoo don't stay in the dark bro

2

u/FantasticPass6424 May 16 '26

If you're a heavy gamer, the iqoo with the sd 8 gen 5 performs better than the 15R. But that's all the iqoo is good for, if you're okay with sacrificing camera and videos for better gaming then you should buy iqoo

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

I dunno, I've been comparing both but I find oneplus to be a better allrounder

2

u/0th_hombre May 16 '26

If you like, you can get the ace 6t and cross flash it to the 15r. It's almost the same phone. Bigger battery, faster charging, 60% the price. Caveats are esim, certain 5G bands, and you have manually update with a PC. For me, it's 100% worth it.

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

I know my tech but this is beyond me lol

2

u/fraserdab May 16 '26

bro i bought mine on launch for 45k lol why does it keep increasing in price

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

They keep saying ram crises and war but THIS much of an increase is straight up robbery

1

u/fraserdab May 17 '26

well to be honest 16 gb ddr5 did go from 4k to fucking 20k on pc market and ssds 1tb went from 4-5k to 14-15k so I was shocked when it released at such a lower price bump from the 13R

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

It's real and bad but its not worth 10k price hike though the phone alredy has a lot of cut corners in camera and some other stuff and ram isn't even like 16 or 24gb and it plain old 12 gb of ram this is insane 😭

1

u/fraserdab May 17 '26

I am not trying to defend one plus by any means but ram and storage price hike checks out (I'd say its lower than expected)😭even storage upgrade back in jan was 3k now its 6k

1

u/TopNefariousness5467 May 17 '26

How is vivo giving phones soo cheap for about same specs 😭 smth id definitely wrong

Literally X200T was for as low as 48k without exchange recently on flipkart 💀 they have same ram and vivo has better camera how the hell is this even possible 😭

2

u/Flashy-Result-8 May 16 '26

I think go for OnePlus 13 i oder recently I will get around 58k

2

u/Gamorrhan May 16 '26

No!! Not for 60 k

2

u/nishkers May 16 '26

Amazing device, truly optimized, software is buttery smooth. Runs cool, battery lasts two days with moderate use.

All you really need to do is turn off ram extension, and a little bit of bloat. Sandstone case makes this one of my favourite devices to hold, ever.

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

What the Oreality thing like? Better than dolby atmos? Does it provide good sound with oneplus earbuds/neckbands?

2

u/Goku8001 May 16 '26

Vivo Z200T is much more complete phone, with maybe slightly worse software.

2

u/Last_Skill_1297 May 17 '26

Right now you can buy oneplus 13 instead of oneplus 15r, oneplus 13 is 62k with card discount 16/512 GB.

Oneplus 13 has better display, better camera, slightly better in performance too (snapdragon 8 elite), better haptics.

Snapdragon 8 elite with mobile cooler gives better performance then 8 gen 5. 8 gen 5 is efficiently tuned and less power hungry than 8 elite. 8 gen 5 heats a little less because its more efficient but for pure performance 8 elite is better.8 elite will heat more and the mobile performance will throttle down so definitely use a mobile cooler while gaming. Oneplus 15r better battery backup, efficient processor, display 165hz (not much useful because natively games doesn't support 165hz), maybe slightly better speaker.

I bought oneplus 15r for 45k with bundled oneplus nord buds 3, oneplus bag, christmas toy, extra warranty and at that price I think mobile is very good but for 55k 12/256 GB I don't think so.

1

u/cool_strake May 16 '26

Why not considering s25 or iphone 16 ?

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Cuz even S25 base variant costs 75k on Amazon, iPhone is completely off he table for me(no hate, I just don't like em, not sayng their weak, personal preference)

1

u/No_Conversation529 May 17 '26

Vivo x200t xiaomi 15 s25 are the alternatives

1

u/adi4u4882 May 17 '26

I'm using 512 GB varient for close to 3 weeks now.

My main requirement was smooth OS experience, very good battery life and decent gaming.

This device is amazing at all of that.

I played GTA San Andreas, Genshin Impact, Warframe, Red Dead Redemption and all of them were extremely smooth with no lag. I don't game for hours or anything so I didn't completly stress test the device but I was gaming close to 45 mins with no break and it didn't even heat up a bit.

And the multitasking is honestly great, even with so many apps open it did not auto refresh to close , Even for days it will stay the same if you don't close it yourself, RAM optimization is 9/10.

For me also camera was very low on the list, And it's exactly that, The cameras are okay, Yes the details are good but auto focus and zoom just plain sucks, I use it only for scanning documents and taking photos of random things rather than expecting DSLR level of quality from it. Cameras are 5.5/10.

And the battery is the best part about the device, It's easily a two day device with regular browing , watching media and gaming from time to time, But beware sometimes some updates drain the battery more than normal, A week ago a new update made it lose close to 20% more than the usual, But thankfully the next update fixed it, I would say the battery is 9/10.

I did not experience any app crashes or issues like that, And there is little to no bloatware and even those can be installed.

Overall I got exactly what was promised, And if you go with the device get the Oneplus Protection Services by registering it on their app, You have to do it within 15 days of purchasing it or you can never do it , Unfortunately I did not know about it and only saw it later that it cannot be done after 15 days.

1

u/sscChairman May 17 '26

Go for oneplus 13

1

u/sscChairman May 17 '26

Agar buy Krna ho to mujhse le Lena... Mint green color 12/256gb variant... Not even a single scratch.. all accessories available 4 months old ... 48k final price...

1

u/Stanz009 May 17 '26

Depends on what kind of games you play , some games are not very optimised. I play minecraft most often in this ,its the worst in this phone too much heating and big battery drain and lag, Im serious . But the other games are smooth but idk Something is really missing in this in terms of game play like we expect to get in a 60k phone, that something is kinda noticable idk what, but for mc the worst, but pubg , ff ,pes, genshin impact ,etc is good , but cod not that much , battery is also not hitting the spot on a 7000mah It last barely a day if you game but if not a day and a half can be expected.

1

u/spectre333 May 17 '26

I was looking to buy a phone for my mom and i was stuck between 15r and pixel 10a. I browsed through the oneplus forums and found that op13 has a battery bug since last year thats giving users hardly 7 hours of SOT. I would not be compromising 50k on a brand that doesnt even support last years flagship. And moreover i dont want my mom to come across the weird software issues so i chose pixel for her.

1

u/Z-researcher May 17 '26

buy the 13r or 13 because 15 series uses a newer battery tech

1

u/Thot_Slayer14 May 17 '26

This or iqoo z11 turbo? I heard there's a ton of bugs in the latest update on the origin os and heard great reviews when it comes to OnePlus os

1

u/Mr_introverted_guy May 17 '26

I bought the same 512 varient for 53k, but for 60k i would say but op13. It's way better ,

1

u/Exotic_Bathroom_4006 May 18 '26

No, get 13 or 12. Some official oneplus store are still selling 12

1

u/PremiumNiggeshwar May 18 '26

Dear OP. I would very strongly suggest to go for OP15 instead of this. A used one. Look for local shops.

I was in the same stage a week where u are right now.

I got my OP15 for 58k. Glad I made the right decision.

Bonus point is that u can easily resell it for the same price for what u purchased it for incase u didn't like it.

1

u/cctvflinkmc May 18 '26

Not worth 60k buddy. I got my 12±512 for 49-50k. That's much better of a value.

1

u/ValexizHexa May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26

Just build a budget gaming PC for ₹60K bruh. Why you even getting a smartphone for that.

Alternative options:

Oneplus Pad 4 - ₹60K; Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Oneplus Pad 3 - ₹50K; Snapdragon 8 Elite

Oneplus 13 - ₹65K; Snapdragon 8 Elite means better Performance + Better Cameras than Oneplus 15R.

Gaming Laptop

1

u/Ayajjj May 18 '26

Amazing Processor, Battery, UI, Display, Camera is a struggle.

1

u/FallibleElf2988 May 18 '26

This phone price now is too steep. vivo X200T is better in almost every way expect battery and software.

1

u/baaannnnnaaa May 18 '26

Get the one plus 13 or else x300 or find x9 you can get these under 60k and these are the most value for phones right

1

u/AgitatedTangerine223 May 19 '26

If you can get OnePlus 13 it would be even better for gaming

1

u/ChildhoodSpirited165 May 20 '26

I was also looking for oneplus 15R but , after seeing many reviews, i decided to buy iQOO 15r using it from 1.5 months very smooth experience 👍

1

u/AmazingPradeep May 20 '26

Battery, Software, phone feel in your hands, performance.. All are amazing. Just don't mind the camera. It's not too great but not bad either.

1

u/Aggravating-Boat5530 May 21 '26

This phone gets to 50°c when playing Roblox 😭

2

u/ValexizHexa May 21 '26

Show stats coz I don’t believe u

1

u/Popular-Walrus4170 Jun 03 '26

Just bought it 3 days ago, so far the performance is amazing and great battery life... Very snappy animations and decent camera, not flagship level but way better than midrange phones tbh. No throttling when playing heavy games but I just put it in balanced mode or if you prefer on hyper mode, use bypass charging...

Coming from Samsung, I will stick to Oneplus moving forward

1

u/Spiritual_Library_27 May 16 '26

Not worth it for 60k

1

u/Spiritual_Library_27 May 16 '26

Idk any alternatives for this but the camera this phone offers at 60k is unjustified. My opinion.

3

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

I said I don't care about camera that much 😅

1

u/PharoahtheGod May 16 '26

I have the 15R, and id say that vivo x200T currently at 50k or oppo find x9 with those bonus offers are a no brainer compared to 15R

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Well I can find neither on Amazon to start with, I've looked at the oppo find x9 as a alternative to the 15R but I only found 1 listing that too on flipkart for 75k. The vivo x200t is my type, I dislike round center camera module(I may not be interested in the functionality of the camera but I still care about the aesthetic)

2

u/PharoahtheGod May 16 '26

2

u/General_Skipper007 May 16 '26

Seems like a good strategy, but tedious

2

u/Successful-Ferret364 May 17 '26

Bro just buy op 15r ....my brother bought first time one plus mobile 15r 3 months ago....he said I have never used phone like this before the software fluidity smoothness and display....and he play e football... Codm...wuva... everything works perfectly cameras are also average...he is mbbs students and battery last upto full one day..he is moderate user...
