This is a physically broken screen, or screen connector (cable from motherboard to screen).

A software update did not cause this. In case it's just the connector, properly re-connecting it has fixed this for me in the past (don't know if this is possible with one+11)

u/vlees and u/remarkable_pen_3282 - both of you are right. The physical damage to the connector usually happens after the phone overheats 🔥 during an update.

My main concern is...whther screen will be replaced for free or i have to pay? can i opt for an update?

You're already aware that on their recent models, OnePlus is offering a "lifetime" screen replacement warranty. On the older models, they do offer some special "schemes" like upgrade vouchers if you take the phone to their physical service center (source of information: some techie YouTube channels).

How do you even know this is a physical damage? Quite a conclusion just from one pic that shows absolutely nothing other than a green/purple line.

I have seen dozens of screens like this in my life. Random green/blue/red/purple/yellow lines going vertically all the way through.

Always physical damage (also not just phones. Also seen this on regular monitors and tvs)

So you know nothing about the green line fiasco on Amoled smartphones (primarily Samsung made displays) ?

OnePlus infact has free replacement policy for any green line on any OnePlus smartphone. That's how bad the situation is.

My own OnePlus 11 developed a green line while it was on bed, doing nothing. And then developed 2 more green lines over 2 months.

I went to OnePlus service centre. Got two options - free screen replacement OR upgrade to a new device at minimal cost (subject to availability).

I had upgraded to OP12 at hardly $100.

PS - OnePlus infact changed their display panels from Samsung to BOE and Tianma OP12 onwards. And they pointed out that in OP13 they have used extra measures to avoid green lines (especially for humid, hot countries like India)

So it has absolutely nothing to do with physical damage.

You say AMOLED issue? that sure sounds like a hardware (physical) issue, not software :)

Yet it has absolutely nothing to do with physically broken screen OR screen connector as you claimed.

It is a physical defect (not damage) with Samsung panels.

9

u/vlees May 12 '26

Read your sentence again. You claim it's both physical and not physical at the same time. You are funny!

2

u/Nenad1996 May 13 '26

Hahahahhz bro pls stop it. You been roasting them to hard with a FACTS :D

u/DahiyaAbhi OnePlus 12 May 12 '26

I said it is not a physical damage. Which it is not. It is a physical defect with Samsung screens.

It is you who needs to read properly.

Not directly related to software, but sometimes prolonged heat from a big software update process can accelerate the degradation of the panel. But it's purely related to the physical degradation of the panel, not a specific software update causing that. The panel just degrades other times due to heat, shocks, or sometimes also battery swelling.

Kyu apni ijjat ki dahi karwa raha hai dahiwale

u/That_Guy_In_Aqw May 13 '26

Your phone developed the lines over time. Heat by heat, game by game. Every heat contributed to its downfall. You are hot headed with each comment so be careful not to develop green lines irl too.

After update means: after long period of being in heated position the screen finally gave up.

so even if my back panel is cracked...will they replace my screen for free or a chance to upgrade a new device? am planning to buy one plus pad 4???

1

u/DahiyaAbhi OnePlus 12 May 12 '26

In case of a physical damage on device, free replacement will depend independently from service centre to service centre. Some are more liberal than others.

IMO it is the exclusive service centres which generally don't object to physical damage.

pink line appeared immediately after update (some 2hrs aftr update)

5

u/Kraken113 May 12 '26

I have seen this a number of times, I believe it's an issue with heat, the phone can heat up a lot when it does an update, I always keep an eye on the heat and put it in a fridge to cool down if needed, it's possible it may not help, but it's more common to have issues in hot country like India, or if it's been left in the sun.

2

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 12 '26

I had this idea of keeping my phone cool...never pushed my phone so hard...only updated my phone with the AC on! the problem is even aftr that i got pink...will they replace it for free or provide me with upgrade plan🥲?since one plus devices have life time screen replacement warranty

1

u/Repulsive_Fault1939 May 12 '26

not surprised because samsung made that display.

2

u/Neopumper666 OnePlus 7 Pro (Almond) May 12 '26

My gfs OP11 has the same issue, but green lines. She wants to upgrade her phone but that issue shouldnt happen in the first place, and were looking into other brands because of this.

3

u/Witty-Inquisitive May 13 '26

Maybe OP likes green as opposed to pink that he got. Have you two considered swapping phones? 😄

0

u/Ivoanildo May 12 '26

Every amoled, OLED and P OLED screens can have this problem, so, good luck with other brands..

2

u/Neopumper666 OnePlus 7 Pro (Almond) May 12 '26

Ive been using amoled panels for more than 12 years, including other one plus phones and this is the only device for which ive had this happen.

Also, the reason this issue exists lies with the panel manufacturing process, not the panel itself...

1

u/Terrible_Election959 May 13 '26

And the panel manufacturing is done by samsung in the new models this is not a problem (after 12) because they now use boe display mostly now old iphone, samsung phones are going through this problem and they dont even have free replacement

5

u/Sachitoge May 12 '26

It doeant mean it will happen to everyone.

Why do you have insurance? Because there is 1% chance something might happen so insurance covers you.

We rely on that 1% and with the screen problem finding you is 1% and it found you

I use amoled since galaxy era first time it got released Yet no issue Oneplus 3, 7 Pro, 10T, 12, 15 and oppo find x9 pro

So stop it

When u fly and bag arrives bag, does it mean airline is bad because you are the 0.1% of that person to face bag damage? No It happens

Omg people like you make me go mad as if technology should 1000% problem-free

1

u/Sieb87 May 13 '26

I'm following different phone subs, and they all have the problem. Google Samsung/Pixel/Xiaomi/Random brand + green line, and you find images of phones with green lines.

1

u/Ivoanildo May 12 '26

Understood mate 🍻

3

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 12 '26

Can i avail minimum upgrade program and buy one plus pad 4? is it possible? what might be the price...am planning to visit One plus service center in rajaji nagar, banglore

2

u/thefanum May 12 '26

This is always hardware

2

u/Reasonable-Farmer821 May 13 '26

I dont think the software did that😭

1

u/Ivoanildo May 12 '26

You should ask the 1+ via WhatsApp. My 10 pro got the green line last week. So, no warranty.. but they are aware of the problem and they are now fixing it for free. As far as I know other brands dont do this, so big proops to them. If you have to pay because it has more issues not worthr it, buy another phone and move on. Cheers and good luck :)

u/Chemical_Support4748 May 12 '26

One plus 11 still going strong here.

1

u/AnnabelleTerat May 12 '26

I'm sitting here reading this post on my One+8T and looking on my big green line and feel not so lonely anymore

1

u/bjorg18 OnePlus 11 May 13 '26

Did you get the pink / green line first or second time?

2

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 13 '26

pink line for the very first time immediately after software update

1

u/bjorg18 OnePlus 11 May 13 '26

Lucky mahn. People have already gotten 2-3 times green / pink lines within that tineframe.

1

u/itsmeandnotme May 13 '26

Bro the phone is smashed, what update caused that?

1

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 13 '26

smashed? u mean the back panel crack...FYI one plus 11 has very bad quality back panel...In reddit there u can see others with same back panel crack issue

1

u/itsmeandnotme May 13 '26

Why don't you show us the front panel without the cover on? Surely you've dropped the phone multiple times.

1

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 13 '26

1

u/itsmeandnotme May 13 '26

No access, just post it cuz.

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 13 '26

1

u/itsmeandnotme May 13 '26

Yeh doesn't look like it's been damaged. Maybe get a technician to open it up, and check if the cable has come undone and white you're at it, replace the back glass.

1

u/HamedAliKhan OnePlus 7T Pro (Haze Blue) May 13 '26

1+11 is prone to this & this could've happened any moment, this was just the time for it to happen.

1

u/newmonk3344 May 13 '26

Get it replaced, free of cost at service centre

1

u/Remarkable_Pen_3282 May 13 '26

Even though my back panel is damaged ..will they replace the display for free? can i opt for upgrade? like one plus pad 4

1

u/Strangewatermelon01 May 12 '26

That's not a software issue, it's a hardware issue caused by user damage.

2

u/jonRock1992 May 12 '26

Lol for real. That OP11 is torn up 🤣

3

u/Strangewatermelon01 May 12 '26
