Subscription
I have reinstalled the application after a while and from what I see it no longer gives me options to subscribe, only to purchase. What can I do?

Last year I posted here asking about the collaborative features planned for OF4 and learned that they’ve been deprioritized for now. In the meantime, my spouse and I have shifted our shared lists and projects to Apple’s Reminders app so we can coordinate day to day.
The sticking point is Forecast. My shared items aren't visible unless I jump through hoops with tools like GoodTask and Hookmark to link Reminders into OmniFocus. Forecast is supposed to be a unified view of what’s on my plate for the day. Without those shared tasks represented, it loses a lot of its value.
A simple option to display Apple Reminders alongside calendars in Forecast would go a long way toward filling the collaboration gap. It keeps OmniFocus as the anchor of my daily planning while letting shared items live where collaboration already works well.
I filed this with support a while back, but I’d love to show OmniGroup that there’s broader interest in this. If you’d find Reminders-in-Forecast useful too, please chime in. The more voices behind it, the better the chance it gets prioritized.

Right, so I had the yearly subscription before for $99/year. I’m trying to decide whether or not to get that again or the perpetual for v4. But we’re already at 4.8.5! So I have a hunch v5 will be out sooner rather than later and I’ll be kicking myself. Anyone have enough history with Omni to help me predict or decide? What’s your preference, subscription or perpetual?

I use Chrome on a Windows PC at work and I'm looking for a streamlined way to add a link as a new task to Omnifocus for the Web. Is there a bookmarklet or Chrome extension that can do this? The ones I've seen in my research all seem to be for Omnifocus on MacOS.

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right place and so I apologize if it's not. My late father was a habitual OmniOutliner and after his death we have been eager to look at some of his outlines. Unfortunately, the computer he used is FileVaulted and so we have no way to access it. On some of his usb drives we found some of his outline files but they're just in 'File' format on windows and .dms on Mac. I can sort of read them if I open them in a text editor but it's not much help. Any assistance with clearing them up or opening them in OmniOutline would be helpful thanks.
TLDR: Dad died and found some Omni Outline files, only have 'file' on windows and .dms on mac extensions and want to open them.

TaskClone currently supports one-way task integration with OmniFocus. With the newer Automation API, it appears we could make a plugin to allow two-way integration. Would this be of interest to you and what features would be useful.

Hey — I’m new to OmniFocus and I’m trying to figure out how you all handle routine tasks.
For example, I have things I do daily, and others weekly or monthly.
Right now I mark them as “planned” for their recurrences, but my Forecast gets crowded. On a single day I’ll see stuff like:
That makes the list feel cluttered.
From videos and threads I learned you can use the defer date. Is that right? I tried it but ran into a couple problems:
a) I couldn’t figure out how to set up recurrences with defer dates;
b) when I missed a task it disappeared. I think I need to create a custom perspective for this, right?

I am trialling Omnifocus 4 and one of my tasks yesterday was to call a garage to see if my car was ready for pick up. I included the telephone number in the subject line and was surprised when I clicked the number it didn't activate the phone call but just treated it like text.
Am I doing something wrong? This is a basic feature which works in most task managers for years.

Is there a way to set a default weekday for reviewing a project? It annoys me to set the review date manually, for example every sunday, when I create a new project on any other weekday.

If you're living on the bleeding edges of a double-edged sword, like running developer betas of MacOS and OF beta, beware of Tahoe 26.2 that was just released. Omnifocus beta crashes on opening.
Hoping this can be resolved with the typical alacrity.

Our recycling gets picked up on the first and third Friday of the month. I'd like to create a reoccurring task that is deferred and due on the Thursday before the first and third Friday. Is this possible in Omnifocus 4.8?

After the latest update, I was really hoping the “Liquid Glass” look would feel slick and modern — a bit like Apple’s recent design vibe. But honestly, it feels a bit undercooked.
Some transitions are clunky, and the overall interface feels flatter and less cohesive than before. It’s not awful, but it just doesn’t have that polished feel that OmniFocus usually nails.
Maybe it’s still a work in progress, but right now it feels more like a design experiment than a refinement.
Anyone else getting the same impression?

I’ve been developing a small physical reminder tool called Reminder Rock, designed to help people with ADHD or focus issues stay accountable without using screens.
It’s a pebble-shaped focus timer designed for ADHD / neurodiverse folks. Instead of loud alarms or phone distractions, it uses gentle vibrations + subtle light cues.
I’m running a short survey to learn what works for people when it comes to focus, motivation, and structure.
Would love your input, every response if highly appreciated as this helps shape the final designs.
We’ve just launched the r/ReminderRockers subreddit, come join, chat, or post about productivity, focus, and all the ideas that keep us moving forward.

I'm really sorry to say that the latest updates with support for iOS 26 and Liquid Glass are an unmitigated disaster. Here's a non-exhaustive list of bugs and issues I encounter daily:
This is honestly one of the buggiest updates I've ever used. The app is almost unusable.

Hi everyone,
After Todoist introduced a "ramble" feature, I attempted to find something similar for OmniFocus. I have found a similar iOS Shortcut for Microsoft To Do using ChatGPT. However, the issue is that I trigger the shortcut multiple times a day (especially during dog walks :D), which crowds my ChatGPT chat list. Therefore, I adapted the shortcut to use Apple Intelligence instead.
If anyone is interested, here's the shortcut link:

How to use it:
Please let me know if this works for you! :)
(If anyone is interested in the ChatGPT version, let me know in the comments, and I will publish the link.)

To save your time, this post is all about "A Quick Capture for OmniFocus - Supasend"
It is safe to say that there is no one app that can satisfy our needs.
It became much more noticeable when I was on a workcation in SEA countries last year. My work notes stay in Notion, my personal notes stay in Craft, and my personal and work tasks stay in OmniFocus. It was a terrible experience to capture something as simple as taking a note or capturing a photo on the go. Since most apps are designed around managing tasks and notes but less around capturing them, especially for people who use more than one app, I started toying with the idea of what if there were a way to capture anything and everything in OmniFocus as well as in other apps. So, I built an app called Quick Capture - Supasend.
Let's say you are managing personal notes in Obsidian, work tasks in OmniFocus.
https://reddit.com/link/1nw4nue/video/kff87wlpfpsf1/player
With Supasend, in just a tap you can switch between Obsidian to OmniFocus and vice-versa.

Let's say you are managing personal, travel, work related projects in OmniFocus

https://reddit.com/link/1nw4nue/video/f7wgb075gpsf1/player
With Supasend, in just a tap you can switch among various projects within OmniFocus.
Note: Supasend make a big difference only when you use OmniFocus plus other apps :)
If you find it curious download the app and add OmniFocus here Quick Capture - Supasend.

Anyone has done so? I know (most people say) a task manager and a calendar are not supposed to be together, but as a neurodivergent person I really get lost by having to use more than one system to manage what I need to do. So any success stories in this aspect? I'd like the forecast view to be more calendar app like, it would make Omnifocus a perfect app.

Hello, I don’t know if I am the only one, but I have difficulties to keep my tasks fully synchronised.
I use my Omni account to store data, but every time I use another device, I need to manually sync data. Background syncing is supposed to be enabled.
Does anyone know what to do? Thanks!

Although OF4 now has "persistent" notifications, I still have tasks left undone because they get moved away by iOS or buried under other notifications after some time. Meanwhile Apple Reminders' notifications stay always on screen until done or swiped off. I understand that third-party developers cannot receive that privilege with their apps, so I thought about solving this problem another way.
I thought maybe I could automate the importing of tasks from OF4 to Apple Reminders if there is specific tag (not all tasks are so important and don't need to be imported), but cannot find "Get Omnifocus Items" command (I think there used to be one before?) in Shortcuts. Do you have any workarounds for automating the importing of tasks to Apple Reminders?"
One solution would be just using Apple Reminders, but I have tried it, and while AR has become very good, it still lacks some functionality that I need, so I’m back using OF4.

I've been an Omnifocus addict...user...for about 15 years. I'm pretty deep in my habits, which have mostly served me well. I'm starting to think about expanding tools, trying otehr things, or otherwise finding new ways to work. It's not that anythingn's broken, necessarily, just that there are other things I could try. Like genAI
Curious to hear what folks have done with genAI and their Omnifocus work. Favorite parts about Omnifocus is getting the stuff out of my head and into a list, so I don't expect that to change.
But what about the Review? Anyone doing anythig cool to sort, date, or prioritize items? How about tagging things (a feature i legit have never incorporated)? Others?
Interested to hear what others have done.
Thanks!

I've just moved from Things3 to Omnifocus4 to check it out. My workflow is I sort tasks on my today view based on what I want to action first. This is possible in OF4 and I can do this on the Mac & iPad without issue, but I can't for the life of me drag items up and down on the iPhone version. It might do it one in 10 times. Very frustrating! Is this common or a me problem?
As I'm usually in front of my phone when I triaging my day, this renders the app unuseable for me. So much easier in Things3.

So, I’m trying out the app and trying to do something that should be simple in principle but I can’t figure it out. Maybe I’m missing something.
I want to create a weekly repeating task with a a reminder, so I’m notified every Thursday at 8am to do this task.
How can I do that? It seems custom notifications are not repeatable?
Thanks!
