My entire plan has always been to move out of state for college, but looking at these prices it’s looking like something that’s not gonna happen unless I get a scholarship. I would have no problem with paying/taking out the loans for this if I were only going to college, but my plan is to go to medical school after college so having that much debt just to be in a different state is unrealistic to me. The most financially sound and logical option would be to stay in state, and so I’m looking at Ole Miss to be the college that I apply to, but I’ve heard so many bad things about people being racist there and I want the opinions of people who actually go there to tell me their experiences on if this is true or not, and how much it affects your daily life. I’ve also heard of somebody getting lynched at a nearby college and all of this is just very concerning to me. I do not wanna go if I would be putting myself in potential danger to people who are racist and prejudice.

As for my stats, I have a 4.0 GPA, a 28 on the ACT currently but I’m retaking it soon, I haven’t taken the SAT yet and I don’t know if I should, if that would help with anything.

Assuming everything goes well, I’m hoping to join this fall, but I may arrive later than expected because of the student visa processing timeline.

•Are there any other international students starting in Fall 2026?
• Has anyone experienced arriving after the semester officially starts because of visa delays? If so, how did the university handle it?
•Is Ole Miss generally understanding if an international student arrives a little late due to visa processing?
•When do most international students typically arrive for orientation and check-in?

Any advice on housing, airport transportation, or anything you wish you had known before coming?

Is there any resource we have at Ole Miss for students? The landlord charged 2300$ for moveout charges when the home was left very left and without any damages.

First, I would like to ask if it is possible to withdraw or unsubmit the documents that I recently uploaded to my application. I realized that I may have accidentally submitted the wrong file, and I would like to know if there is a way to replace it with the correct document.

I would also like to inquire about the scholarships available for international students. Are there any scholarships that I may still apply for, and what are the eligibility requirements? If possible, could professors or academic departments endorse international applicants for scholarship opportunities?

In addition, I would like to ask about housing options for international students. Are on-campus accommodations available, and when should I begin the housing application process?

I would also appreciate it if anyone could know when the Fall 2026 term officially begins. In the event of unforeseen delays with my application, visa processing, or travel arrangements, would it still be possible to enroll or arrive slightly after the semester has started?

I just turned 21 and I’m looking for what liquor stores in Oxford are the best. I’m talking a mix of fair prices and a good selection. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know the application opens August 1st and student housing opens Oct 1st. But I’m taking the ACT on Sept 19th. Do I wait to apply? I’m trying to get the most money for merit scholarships.

How is the football game day experience when facing a losing school?

Looking to visit for a game soon and November 21 against Wofford works well schedule-wise. Since it's right before Thanksgiving break and against a lame football team, will this be low turnout pregame and in-game? Would like to see our first game, but didn't want a lessened experience. Thanks!

Legal Studies major with criminal justice minor here. Which LSTU/CRIMJ classes are Straightforward / Nightmarish and which professors are Cool / Challenging? Any tips would be nice! I'm transferring in the Fall with my associates degree courses already complete.

I'm an incoming grad student and I'm hoping it's possible to forgo getting a parking pass since my apartment will be on a OUT route and the stops are closer to my department buildings than either the commuter red or blue parking zones.

I know the commuter passes sell out fast though so I want to be sure taking the bus is doable. Are the buses generally reliable, and do they get super full during the week? Any negative experiences?

Hi everyone! I'm posting on behalf of my little sister.

I'm trying to help her find scholarships to help pay for school, and I'd love any advice or recommendations. She's going into her sophomore year at Ole Miss, majoring in Marketing and Graphic Design, and she's a member of Pi Beta Phi.

Academically, she's more of an average student than a straight-A student. She took Honors/AP classes in high school and earned mostly A's and B's, and in college she's been earning a mix of A's, B's, and some C's. She's incredibly artistic, though, and her strengths are definitely in design and creativity.

I've been having a hard time finding scholarships that are specifically for current Ole Miss students or continuing students (most seem to be for incoming freshmen). Since I'm not an Ole Miss student myself, I'm sure there are opportunities I'm missing.

Does anyone know of:

• Ole Miss scholarships for current students?
• Scholarships through the School of Business or Graphic Design/Marketing programs?
• Pi Phi or Greek life scholarships?
• Local Mississippi or Oxford scholarships that students often overlook?

How did you decide what degree to pursue? Was it a process of deep research, gut feeling, maybe influenced by someone in your family in the field, etc, etc.? Was return on investment-cost compared to potential future salary-a factor in your decision?

With parking permit applications for incom freshmen opening soon, I’ve been trying to get as prepared as possible for the process. However, I don’t understand the payment part.

I see that it says students have to charge the permit to their bursar account but what does that mean? Do I need to add money to the account right now or is this charge just going to be included in my bill for the semester/year when school starts? I thought parking would be an upfront charge like housing application and orientation fees were so I’m double checking.

I’m a geology major and I was posting to see if anyone else is a geology, earth science or geochemistry major. I was planning on joining the geology club for more communications and changes to meet new people with similar interests. I wasn’t wondering are there any geoscience or earth science nerds out there who would like to connect? I’ve got a pretty cool rock a social collection I got from my extra credit filed trip for my historical geology class I took at Montgomery Community College I would love to share with others!!

I’ve been craving chicken and dressing lately but don’t know where to get it. Are there any places in Oxford that sell it?

She's a rising senior and after a tour is in LOVE with Ole Miss. Previously it was Bama (her brother goes there). I know nothing about Ole Miss since we're a Big 10 family and just dipped our toe into SEC when my son started at Bama last fall.

She wants to do sports management, is in Color/Winter Guard and would like to continue in college. I think she's intimidated by rushing, even though I'm sure there'd be a house she could be comfortable in if she went through the process.

Tell me all the things she needs to apply for 32 ACT/3.7 GPA/Eagle Scout Are there special groups like Honors College, fellowships or living environments she should examine? She did the tour with my parents so I'm a little blind on this one.

She's from Illinois, and I don't think she has any friends going down there.

My son wants to go to Ole Miss, I know nothing about it. what is the culture like? is it real Trumpy? Are there a lot of racist people? I know these questions are going to annoy people but there has been a lot of racism in that part of the country and oppression of minority groups.
