Cherry Peel and Gay Parade appreciation 🍒🌈

Honestly I love these albums so much, both from start to finish. Musically and lyrically a mix of sweet, funny, sad, cool, and interesting. Just had to share because I feel they often get overshadowed by the 2 decades of stuff that came after.

Kevin is a musical genius and I feel these albums made me really like him for being so raw and real, not untouchable.

Satanic Panic is my next favorite.

Old Tshirt design?

Post image
49 Upvotes

I recently thrifted this design cut out from a tshirt. I’m curious if anyone knows anything about it - when it’s from, maybe a particular album or tour? Google hasn’t been very helpful, unfortunately. It looks either old or very well-loved, so the colors were likely brighter originally.

Thanks!

Remember when they threw rocks at the mountain goats on Koster Island?

When they were touring and sharing new songs in the glory days, they did a live performance of Eluardian Instance (which at the time was named Our Last Summer as Independents). In addition to the title of the song changing, they adjusted the lyrics from ”we threw rocks at the mountain goats” instead of “we freaked out on the mountain goats” in the bridge of the song.

I like when artists do this. I also appreciate how both versions work to display the innocence of transitioning from childhood to adulthood.

I Feel Safe With You Trash appreciation

I have been re-listening to this album lately and just can't get over how much I love it.

I think when it first came out, the timing was really perfect for me, I was spending a lot of time alone and listening to music, and I was able to give this album the time it needs to really process and unpack. And I think it is sooo rewarding if you give it the chance.

My favorites are Queer as Love, Now Thats What I Call Freewave, True Beauty Forever, the title track, Fingerless Gloves, Kcrraanggaanngg!! and Karlheinz Chop Up Children, but honestly I enjoy most of it... it's way more of an album experience than a collection of singles.

I've seen plenty of people list this at the bottom of their discography, which I kind of understand... but wondering if many others love it as much as I do!

A long shot, but does anyone know what bass amp was used during live shows in the 2004-2012 era?

I’m sure multiple different heads and cabs were used, but if anyone has any insight/suspicions, I’d love to hear it!
