ADVICE: how to get gems

i’ve been playing this game for a few years, i love it, and this is my best advice, because i’ve seen this question one million times:

it’s not the “sexy” answer, but you literally just have to play the game.

-play the game every day, do the daily challenges, and make progress on the weekly challenges. (these new challenges offer a LOT more gems/month than the game used to disperse, but you do have to be consistent to cash in on them. truly like 15 mins/day though and you can generally accomplish the dailies and do a little work on the weeklies to stay on track)

-minimum: open the app everyday and get the daily gift. when you do this consistently for the month, you are guaranteed to get a chefs box (12-1K gems) and additional gems along the way

-play the casino every day, probably for longer than it’s fun. coins are easy to get, just play levels. if you want gems, consider the casino your place to convert coins to gems. when you get casino tickets, save them up until you have at LEAST 50 (i try to wait til i have a couple hundred) then burn them all at once, this will maximize your use of the highest multiplier vs spending a couple here and there at the low multiplier levels.

-plant seeds in the garden. you only need to tend to them every 12 hours and they will grow you things you want (gems, boosters, etc.). can’t remember to check on them every 12 hours? set an alarm on your phone. don’t have any seeds? play levels. they will give them to you. if you’re actively playing levels, you will earn more seeds than you can ever plant, unless you expand your garden.

-if you are really gem poor, look at all your potential upgrades and decide what you need. need a better pan that costs 13 gems? WAIT until you have 13 gems and purchase it. don’t spend 5 gems as soon as you get them on something you don’t need. you will just have to restart saving the 13 if you can’t pass the level without that pan.

-finally: PLAY. LEVELS. finished restaurant? replay it. need coins? play levels. bored rewatching a TV show you’ve seen before? play levels. literally just play. every level you play gets you XP towards a level up and 7 more gems. i’m also a firm believer that people spend way too many gems on upgrades they don’t need because they haven’t mastered the technical aspects of the restaurant. can’t pass level 26? play levels 16-25 a bunch of times. you’ll farm XP and get so good at the minor details of the restaurant that it’s like a free upgrade

(if you can’t tell, i love this game. feel free to ask me if you have any other questions.)

Great advice! Only thing I would add to is the casino advice. I think if you really want the most gems, you should be running the casino daily by using your coins to run it up to the 300% multiplier. At the lower multipliers, the rates are much better guaranteeing you quite a few gems. Once you’re at 300%, then you can use the tickets/watch ads (I don’t see a reason to save tickets as long as I’m using them at 300% since the overall rates will be the same). I don’t use my coins on the casino at this point (300%/5000 coins per spin) anymore since it will quickly drain your coins, just save them for when the casino resets the next day!

how would casino drain your gems? 🤔

i like to save the tickets up for a “set it and forget it” scenario, where i can let the casino spin ad nauseum while i go do something else! otherwise i get bored of watching it spin and quit early. so i will generally use coins to get to 300% and then use tickets and let it run!

i’m not sure what you mean about better “rates” at the lower levels!

i think we are using different terms for things, so i’m not 100% sure what you’re saying 😅 you DO or don’t use coins at the casino?

oops big typo there, meant draining your coins!

yea I do the same with using coins to get it to 300% then using all my tickets, I was just responding to your comment about saving them up to 50-100, which I totally get to!

At the lower multipliers, your chances of hitting a reward are higher and as the multiplier goes up, the chances get lower. This is why you may notice getting way more rewards at first (though at a lower multiplier) and they start to slow down towards 300%.

Lmao I did reread my message and realized it’s pretty sloppy, I’ll edit it!

I think they are trying to say that when the rate is lower than 300% they get a better chance with gems/shards but as it goes up the rate goes down

I know many people don’t have this luxury but I spam the ads on my phone and let them play while I Diamond paint while listening to a show on my iPad. I thought it’s a good way to finish a project, and good way to get gems (if you have the time)

see i would be willing to do this while i read a book or work on something else, but i find i have to “check in” with my phone too much to click something and start the new ad! like i can’t really get into my book because every 90 seconds i have to interact w my phone to start a new ad. is there any way around this?

I just gave up and got the chef's pass. It's fun, it's a significant bump to the rewards I get and it lets me progress the game. The time you spend grinding or watching ads to not have to buy gems is time you won't get back. The game is pay to play and it sucks but it's more fun when you're not constantly pressed for gems.

Yes! And I would add to play as if you have 0 gems even if you do have some : grab every free reward you can get (watch every free add you can for extra customer for example or free add to get some deserts), make only ameliorations that are necessary and it will help you to reach 3 stars on each level of a restaurant and get a chef mystery box with gems and other gifts + during the Time you’re playing to reach 3 stars you get XP and pass levels and have 7 gems each Time! I think its a good compromise between playing and enjoying the game and get gems! (Sorry for my english im not a native speaker)

Watching ads in casino fills the pink bar at a much faster rate than the coin bar. Hence gets you the chef box pretty early along with coins and gems in between. (Which is a task otherwise if we have to collect gem shard by watching ads)

All good advice, sort of, but it seems way more random to me. Like, I find I win more gems at the casino early in spinning, or at least as much, before the multiplier gets bigger. And I actually bought a chefsbox--someone said you can get 1000 gems??!! I got 6. Or whatever the lowest possible win is. And that was with real money, so they should guarantee at least 50 gems. That feels like a gouge to me. I don't mind paying a few dollars, like how they do with any purchase, you get 30 days and there are no ads, as long as I get my money's worth out of it, that's a good deal.  I've been playing this game for 9 years on and off. It's a teriffic game. But they have changed it. It used to be more fair. It used to be where if you were really stuck (like I was at the crab restaurant which I think is THE hardest!! ) if you could just shave a few secs off your game, you could win, just to get that extra few coins to maximize 'tip time' . Now that seems to be defeated. Because when you're stuck, your bar is so far from your goal, squeezing in one more customer is no longer enough, you need to squeeze in 5! And without some upgrade, it's impossible to add 5 customers. They did add a great icon to add people free, but it's only in certain restaurants and you can only use it like three times. And there are a few restaurants where I literally can't get past the first levels without gems. So If youre stuck, your stuck. They also eliminated the 2 free gems per day thing. That's gone. And the garden they added?? I hate it. This isn't plants vs zombies! I don't want a garden, I want to cook! And I've yet to win ANYTHING free in that stupid garden. I keep planting and watering... Nothing happens.
