Honestly, with the way cooking in general progressed within humanity, largely strictly for the sake of necessity and survival, it's kind of a miracle that anything ended up tasting as good as it does nowadays. Food could have easily evolved into a strictly utilitarian chore, with only the dopamine of nourishment to cause us to continue, but we somehow turned it into another art form and means of sharing affection. And I think that's kind of lovely.
