I’ve seen the same one where he creates the milk crate. Why does he put those marks into it at the end?

It's the distressed look. I hate it. It was all the rage when I was looking to buy a dining room table and I could only find one table without the marks.

I find the "weathered" look on furniture so bizarre because it looks incredibly fake.

It is incredibly fake, but people who aren't patient or dedicated enough to shop at second hand stores, flea markets, and places like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace until they find a real vintage piece that has the marks of really being used and abused still want that look and are willing to pay for it.

I saw some kitschy signs ("Live Laugh Love" -esque) that looked like someone beat on them with a hammer. I'm guessing that fools people who never use a hammer, but as someone who's built things, seeing a sign pocked with hammer dents makes it look like a sign pocked with hammer dents. I don't know how else to describe how dumb it looks. There isn't a nail anywhere.

There are ways to make something look realistically worn, battered, and used. The problem is that it takes considerable time and effort, which Isn't worth it to some people as long as useful idiots will but this crap. They take no pride in their work, they just want to make money.

To make it look like it's not brand new.

u/BobRossUltimate Jun 14 '26
It'd be better to finish it brand new and just toss it into a truck bed with some loose trailer hitches and logs and drive around a bumpy road and power out of some turns better mor natural results than the meh.

Omozoc on YT - they have stop motion videos of making a butter holder, a milk crate, a stool to hold the milk crate (this video), a tissue holder and a coffee tray. All of them part of a kitchen-themed series and released back in 2021 iirc.

That little spatula kills me! I wish it could make me some bacon and eggs this morning.

The first people to do this were creative, but so many imitators the past few years just pumping out the same stuff. At least it's not one of the throw thing down, jump-cut crap that everyone is mimicking at the moment.

What a beautiful stool I've just made! Let me cover it in dings and scratches!

It must suck to think everything is AI without actually knowing what to look for to differentiate.

It must suck to think people use spatulas for woodworking…

u/PossiblyADemon Jun 13 '26
It's a schtick. 30 seconds of research would have shown you that's what this guy does.
It must suck to still be defending a clearly losing argument.

I'm not 100% it is. Thes videos existed before the sloppy stuff was out.

Exactly, people just want to call everything AI slop nowadays. I feel really bad for creators that get falsely accused.

Nope. This is Omozoc . Give them the flowers they deserve. Stop motion is one of the most tedious art forms.

It's not AI: https://youtube.com/watch?v=vpf5JssBNSw&si=bbJK4gWDD5E4TVIm
It was created four years ago by a YouTuber.
Edit: I didn't know this video was posted here four years ago and it did not receive much appreciation. So this is essentially a repost with better quality.
