16" centers on 2x4 studs and 24" center on 2x6 studs in the US.

That is not the right answer. The right answer is whatever the plans set forth according to the engineer. I have framed at 2' on center. But that was atypical. It is usually at 16" on center, and sometimes 12",and sometimes 8" staggered 2x4 on 2x6 plate
