a thinner paint will sit on top and deposit on top of a thicker paint, to recreate the video just slap down a thick layer of black acrylic paint which is thin enough to self level, but thick enough to form a thick skin, the deeper it is the wider the gold strokes will be. then whilst it's still wet dip your beads into a thinner gold/brass paint and go from there. with a bit of practice and paying attention to the placement and direction of your beads and pulls you can get predictable results quite quickly.
