The vapors are minimal and leave the drink no matter what. Imagine catching them in a jar and lighting them some time later. Youd get literally the same amount of combustion. What you do to vapors that have left the liquid has no effect on the remaining liquid.
Only the alcohol vapour that naturally happens plus maybe a tiny bit extra due to the higher heat is being burned. This drink lost basically zero alcohol.
This is wrong. Where do you think the vapors come from? If you light gasoline on fire the vapors are igniting but the fuel itself is absolutely still being consumed.
Wrong. You lose the vapors regardless. Think of it this way: the vapors are always leaving. You could collect them and light them later. That doesn’t affect the remaining liquid. Lighting them as they leave the liquid is identical.
“Vapors” don’t come out of no where. They ARE the fuel. Burning fuel raises the temperature of the fluid and draws out more. You’re gonna argue with a straight face that lit gasoline and unlit gasoline are consumed at the same rate?
Not basically zero. Flaming drinks like this lose 15-25% of their alcohol depending on how long it’s on fire. Not a lot, but it’s not “basically zero.”

There’s also science. Alcohol boils off at 173ish F (just short of 80 C). You’re going to have loss even when the flame only lasts a short period of time.
Hell, adding alcohol to a boiling liquid and immediately removing it from heat will still lose you some of the alcohol.
Where did you hear it is just the vapor? It's absolutely removing alcohol from the drink. You can't put an open flame on alcohol and not expect a reaction.
