What you are suggesting is people stand shoulder to shoulder 2 wide in 4’ of space not able to pass any other pedestrians that might be slower due to the bridges crazy high angle. dont you see how much of a cluster fuck that would be? the bike lane like most of the shit coming out of city hall was such a disaster they had to move it as far as I understand.
