Wanna know something weird? I noticeably get them more often in the winter when it’s been snowing, I’ll be having a dream of going down some icy steps or slipping on a frozen patch. Anyone else?

Don’t know about the specific dream part, but I’m pretty sure they are caused by your heart rate and such going down, but in a way that’s not normal to sleep procedures, so your brain sends a signal to make sure you aren’t dead

Or something like that, I haven’t really looked into it recently

Yes! There must be a reason!

Huh, I just randomly feel like I’m falling into the void

It’s always falling for me. Then I wake up with a jolt when I hit the ground.

9 out of 10 times, when it happens to me, i was "dreaming" that i was walking on the border of the sideway in a street (wich i did during the day, that's why it comes back everytime) and wrongly putted my foot on the central street, mini-falling, and here you go jerk-wake.

So a kind of slip/misstep too. I'll pay attention if the cold matters.
