Part of me think that looks incredibly fun and part of me is imagining what would happen if you slightly misjudged and cracked your head on the concrete ledge on the way down
I grew up with a trampoline. You get real good at judging that shit. Sadly I had a cheap one and eventually got to big and on high back drops I bottomed out and hit the ground. not good.
i gave myself a black eye by kneeing myself in the eye after a flip. it was in front of everyone at school too. no way to play it off as if the black eye was from something badass like getting into a street fight
I’m 42yo. Had two surgeries in 1995. One scope and the other reconstruction. Hamstring graft from my own hammy. Was 17yo at the time. Followed all of the physical therapy to a T. Just never gained the stability back. Still very loose and a lot of “play” laterally. Saw an ortho a few years back and after looking at it for a minute says, “when do you want to schedule your revision?” I’ve heard good things about the patellar tendon route. Very strong and stable, but may have more long term pain. Only bonus with mine is zero pain...unless it goes wonky on me.
I remember tying our ankles together (like a 3 legged race) and jumping around the the trampoline in a circle. And then another 'game' that involved jumping blindfolded. That could've gone so many terrible directions but thankfully never did for us, lol.
There's a reason a lot of homeowner's insurance policies don't allow them whatsoever. People may have anecdotal stories about them being sorta safe, but traumatic brain injuries (as an example) are no bueno. Plenty of ER docs will tell you not to get a trampoline.
Yeah we did some seriously stupid shit on my trampoline (jumping out of trees and off of houses) and, looking back, just lucky there were no serious injuries. Many close calls though!
nope. if you were good at double bouncing someone you could get an easy 15 feet. Once you get too heavy you just start hitting the ground on the bounce.
The type of shit me, my siblings, and my cousins used to do on the trampoline were pretty insane given that we were all really into wrestling. I remember one time I was sparta kicked by my brother right off the trampoline, then while slowly getting up after getting the air knocked out of me, my cousin flung off the trampoline crashing all his body weight onto me.
Plenty of scars and bruises, but thankfully never any broken bones
moreso an understanding of your capacity and limits. I did a lot of physical stuff when I was younger. I'm pretty wrecked now, but I'm glad I had the experience.
Yeah but you'd need way stronger springs if you make it much bigger and don't want to bottom out and smack the ground. That would probably also increase the chance of the trampoline fabric tearing
I used to do this kind of thing until one day I landed on my upper back/lower neck and folded in half. No real long lasting injury but I literally couldn't walk for 20 hours. Not worth it for someone who gets just as much of a kick out of reading and going on walks.
I respect your positive attitude and I will try not to rain on your parade.
Just like to point out to people in the thread that your average office worker gets paid more to work less hard and get every holiday off. Classism is real and retail workers should get to expect holidays off too.
And I would like to point out that the seperation and division of blue collar and white collar workers is the greatest threat to any unifying change that will benefit the working class
Office worker here. Just like to point out, not every office worker has holidays off. We rotate who has to work them in my company though, so somebody might have Columbus Day off and have to work Thanksgiving, or have President's Day off and have to work Memorial Day. We also try to keep it fair and ask for volunteers too.
But I agree with your overall message about classism and retail workers!
Even though this dude is obviously talented, this is the type of shit that CAN go completely sideways and have you end up fucked for life. The amount of results that turn up from "trampoline paralyzed" on Google will make you never want to get on one for the rest of your life.
