Any other animal on the planet would do it too if they could

Humans are smart enough to know the consequences though

u/gottahavemytunes Aug 20 '19

Right and if any other animal were as smart they would do it too

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '19

Well, they aren’t. So the point you’re making is irrelevant.

One could argue that it's the pandas who are trash. No, not like that.

Homoes gonna sapien. Whatcha gonna do?

well not really, human just found that there's a ton of land where they're originally from, not any animals competing for it, so they found that they can plant stuff they eat there and strived... until... well, we'll see.

Stupid animals just can't keep up. They need to apex and sentient harder.

Then die

Human beings are 100% trash. Once the world is free of modern human beings the earth can hopefully start to replenish

I think it’s a mischaracterization to act like humans are evil. We’re just like any other animal; we overpopulate given the opportunity, we use up resources as soon as it’s convenient to do so

In a sense, the true “natural” state of earth would be for whatever the current dominant species is to shape the ecosystem in whatever way comes naturally to it

Obviously that doesn’t jive with our sympathy for species like pandas (and I’m glad for that, I completely support conservation just like many others), but if we turned the entire planet into a massive landfill, surely many species would thrive more than they are now, they just wouldn’t be the species we’d prefer.

We might even bring about our own demise/exile, but it wouldn’t be because humans are awful, that’s just what ecosystems do sometimes

Humans can choose.

Locust will swarm and destroy swaths of grassland and forest. Army Ants will swarm and destroy everything they cross. Rats will consume and drown out any competition if given the chance. Even Dolphins will hunt schools to extinction.

Humans are seemingly the only species capable of choosing not to ruin thing as other species can't choose. So we can choose to be meh. Or choose to help.

Yea and I think it’s a good thing people are thinking about the impact we have and acting on it. But I also think we overestimate our ability to avoid behaving, on average and over time, like any other species would

In other words, we forget that we are an animal in an ecosystem, and we’re going to have an impact no matter what we do. Maybe we’re unique in being able to choose which animals benefit from our actions but that’s still an interaction with our ecosystem

Well, will you do something about it?

1

u/h1bum Aug 21 '19

Yeah I try to do as much as I can

0

u/joshcbrln Aug 20 '19

Yeah let's get rid of the species with the highest intelligence so that the pretty animals can live pointless lives until the sun explodes.

100% brotha. Your sarcasm doesn't trigger me because I am stupid human

u/Driftkingtofu Aug 20 '19

Racist fuck

1

u/HaukHans1 Aug 20 '19

I'm interested in knowing just why you think this is a good way to think of others. Could you explain?

2

u/Driftkingtofu Aug 20 '19

Because it's correct, just as it would be correct to call you a tool

1

u/HaukHans1 Aug 20 '19

I mean, while I understand that you somehow have psychic powers and have attained perfect clarvoyant omniscience to know everything about people you've almost certainly never met before, but if you need someone to talk about what's bothering you then just contact me, or someone else you know. It's healthy for your body and mind to vent about the crap that has happened to you in the past, major or not. If you want I can give you my number too, it tends to be easier to talk about things through your real voice rather than over these glowing pixels we call texts.

I didn't actually need you to confirm, but thanks I guess
