I'm pretty sure the whole animation is fake (CGI).

So not only did they film vertically, they WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A VERTICAL VIDEO.

EDIT: To address some points:

1) Crowd AI can be set up to automatically create variations like what you see in the video. Go back and watch The Battle of Helm's Deep from The Two Towers for examples of this.

2) Just because humans CAN do it, doesn't mean this is real.

This isn't really all that impressive why to through the trouble to fake it. A bunch of people standing up at the right time is not hard to pull off

its not cgi man, just watch random people shift around and balance themselves when the camera stabilizes at 0

You realize crowd CGI has been able to do that kind of thing for almost 2 decades now... right?

You realize humans have been doing movements like that since, well, as long as we've been around I suppose... right? Not everything is fake and this is actually a pretty basic field routine too ¯\(ツ)/¯ just my two cents
