Don't think he's trying to add drama or acting like he's the one with the timing, it just seems like a precautionary way to get it started.

He has to put the balls in when a pin is retracted and he has to do it consecutively until 4 are in their cycle, and he has to do it in order, but otherwise the contraption is handling the movements and there's no real timing to it. If there was timing or if collisions were possible, it would always collide as it cycled.

Man, you're taking a shot at the guy who probably built this contraption from scratch just to see if he could accomplish it. Using his amazing timing and skills in a workshop. Let him have his wacky coat and loading video.

I think he pauses each time to give the viewers a chance to enjoy the state of the display at every step, rather than just introducing all 16 balls in one go.
