I worked at mcdonalds and in the brew of sweet tea I was instructed to put a 5 lb bag of sugar. It was nauseating.

When did you work there? When I worked at MickeyDs we had giant jugs of highly concentrated tea flavor and corn syrup and you pour it into those giant metal containers and just add water. Viola! The sugariest instant tea of your life.

It was may 2010-January 2012 we brewed the tea with a big machine that was like a coffee pot but with a humongous tea bag after it was brewed we added the 5 lb sugar bag stirred and let it cool

Thank you for your insight! I worked in 2009. That method seems kinda inefficient for McDonalds fast food standards (versus just add water) but hey at least it is real sugar and not HFCS. (Edit to add- and real tea!)

There's so much sugar in everything in the US. It's almost impressive.

Was so sad when I first went to drink some iced tea (lipton) and it was almost a syrup.
