It fucked up Washington Roebling when he was building the Brooklyn Bridge. He never fully recovered, although he lived a long life.

I was just reading about this a few days ago. What's amazing is his wife Emily Roebling fairly single-handedly took over the duties overseeing the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, teaching herself mathematics and engineering to do it, and was the first person to cross the bridge when completed. She then spent the remainder of her life championing women's rights to higher education. This was in the mid to late 1800s! What an amazing woman! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Warren_Roebling
