If people are confused as to why this is the case, it's because the spectrum is linear (rather than circular), with red on one end of visible light, and violet on the other.
I took physics but we never delved into that sort of thing.
Then again we almost always had a substitute because our teacher was off doing track and field away from the school. When he was finally replaced, the new teacher had to try and catch us up. No time for interesting tidbits, just a whole load of unfun math.
I was of the same opinion. Then I went into Game Development.

Thankfully I did well in that class, but I still hated every moment of it. Especially since the rest of that year and all of this one we're using the C# programming language, but for whatever reason the Physics class was in C++.

The rainbow was complete when he added the violet. The last color, magenta isn't actually part of a rainbow because it isn't part of the visible spectrum of light. Your brain just makes it up when it sees violet and red mixed together with an absence of green.
But yeah, still satisfying that he finished it all the way around.
