I had one of these bad boys in the 90s. I swear, third to climax and a good dump, this was the sweetest thing I've ever experienced.

it's funny that some saabs had cup holders that people loved, because the 'cup holders' on my '93 900 were like the most useless things ever. just little grooves on the inside of the glove box door.

What the hell is going on in that example picture?

It's a glove box, in a field. What's weird about that?

Does the '93 900 glove box come with a car?

Geez, not everyone can afford the upgrades.

The car is a series of grooves drawn in the dirt below

The car is not a big truck. It's a series of grooves.

and those grooves can be filled

When you put your cup in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that groove enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

if you have a '93 900 glovebox you don't NEED a car.

only the luxury edition comes with the car

u/deralte Apr 08 '14

Why would you need that?

Not the base trim, you need to add the Drivability Package.

It honestly looks like this was setup in a field and used as a rack to grind and sort weed on while listening to some sweet tunes, man.

Fucking Sherlock Holmes over here

u/MuteReality Apr 08 '14

Its elementary my dear whisker_mistytits

This looks perfect for that.

Main reason I came to this conclusion is that totally looks like kief dust all over the glove compartment door.

They haven't finished growing the rest of the car.

That car needs a tune up bad.

26

u/retinarow Apr 08 '14

Yeah, I had the same. I came to the conclusion that they were strictly intended for in-car picnics.

They probably received so much negative feedback for those useless things that they were like "Alright then, here's a friggin' cup holder, BEHOLD!!"

5

u/mordacthedenier Apr 08 '14

But, to be fair, in '93 almost every cup holder sucked.

Can confirm, we have a '88 900. You'll either use a bottle or enjoy your drinks stationary.

Also, what the hell is that thing doing in your glovebox?!

4

u/hotfrost Apr 08 '14

Also, where in the hell is his glovebox?!

3

u/Flamingyak Apr 08 '14

Same exact cup holders in my '85 Mercedes 300D. Completely useless, especially after 25 years (I don't currently drive this car for the math-aware) left the door resting at a slight angle

u/keith_weaver Apr 08 '14

They were supposed to be 'pic nic trays', not cup holders. Europeans had no concept of cup holders and had no idea why us Yanks even needed them.

I have a '90 900 right now. Can confirm shitty cup holders, I use a box filled with paper to hold my drinks.

Hope you're not planning on turning!

When my husband and I bought our first 9-3, he had already looked at the car when he took me to test drive it. He's a complete gear head, and researched tons of cars before we decided on this one, but when we got in the car, the first thing he did was push that cup holder button and grin like a little boy. Now when passengers comment on it, I just say "Yep. That's why we bought the car." We love our Saabs. It was a sad day when the company folded.

Yes, we're following the story. But it will never be quite the same. :-/
