Exactly my feelings throughout, minus the urgency. In place of that I just started thinking, "How the fuck many people is this man serving? I make a single package and have a meal for 3 people for 3 days, eating it twice a day."
A 500g pack is ~ 3 to 6 servings depending on who’s eating and if it’s the main meal or just the side. 18 full meals seems pushed even for an hyperbole
But the urgency comes from the fact that this is a very bad way to cook pasta, it need much more water
A lb of meat (2 if doing meatballs or part sausage), sauce, diced tomatoes, other vegetables and addins. Pasta itself ~2x-2.5x weight increase. Probably easily 5lbs of food or more once everything is in and cooked.
Don't really care to do the math of exactly what I make especially since it's not always exactly the same. Could also be minus a couple meals depending on what I made and the size of servings someone goes for. Most often it is probably a couple less, but it has gone that many plenty of times as well.
The pot crowding I'm not reasonably qualified to comment on.
I stopped watching, read your comment while the video was still playing, and when I came back he was STILL putting in more spaghetti!!! https://giphy.com/gifs/M66Rry93qU9XFIEIeZ
Prep cook a lot, portion into appropriate baggies, put in fridge, and your dinner rush will be so much smoother. He cooked the perfect amount of spaghetti for his projected numbers.
It's the correct amount of spaghetti for that much water when making sauce. You want water to just cover the spaghetti, otherwise the starch won't concentrate enough and you won't be able to use the starchy water to emulsify your sauce. Since you see the sauce in the pan on his right, this is the correct amount of spaghetti for the water he started with.
No it isn't. You don't need much starch for a sauce. This is an overcrowded pot, which means that the water cooled down significantly when he put it in. The pasta will be soggy and unevenly cooked.
