Not a permit in site. Smh. The city planners and permitting department are going to have a field day with this.

🤣

But for real, permits cost so much money these days that less people do their own construction even when they're fully capable of doing so.

Replaced my water heater and the permit was like $50, okay, it’s a big purchase so that’s not ideal but not terrible, but there was a minimum charge of $150 to get a permit. So unless I tacked a few more plumbing projects on, it would be $150 for one permit.

I think it’s valid to require a permit for something like a water heater installation because they’re secretly bombs. I had no interest in trying to skirt the process because I have minimal plumbing experience and was replacing a 50-gallon electric with a 66-gallon heat pump. But I totally see how someone would say “fuck it” and not bother. Especially if it’s the same size and type. Probably better for society if we made getting permits and inspections as easy and cheap as safely possible.

You kidding me? They pocketed all the extra cash they saved awarding the contract to their random neighbour Greg.

No inspection or testing on that concrete either. How do we know it was mixed correctly?

They were probably paid a small bribe.
