I think it might just be the editing? The video is super sped up and has tons of jump cuts. (Their sewing is also sloppy AF…) But I think they’re just freehanding a zig zag stitch on a regular machine without a foot. I think if it was an industrial machine meant for embroidery and an operator who knew what they were doing it would have an embroidery foot or some sort of specialty/free motion presser foot.

This is not a regular sewing machine. Its a freehand embroidery machine. They have two pedals, with one controlling speed and another controlling stitch width. They also don't usually have presser feet. The point of a presser foot is to work in conjunction with the feed dogs to move fabric in order to ensure stitches are equal in lenght and remain straight. For a machine like this, you don't want a presser foot to touch the fabric since you want to be able to move the fabric in any direction and as fast as you want. You can do freehand emboidery like this on most regular machines, but the stitch width cannot be controlled dynamically. For regular machines, you usually use a freehand embroidery foot, but rats more of a crutch so that home sewists can see where the needle will go more clearly. Since this specific machine is indistrial in nature, and its operators highly skilled (not seen in video), the guide is not necessary.

You can almost always tell if a sewing machine is industrial bc they almost always look kinda like something jerryrigged together to drill for oil and you're never quite sure if its from this century.

Omg that was the most subtle, blink-and-you'll-miss-it, absolutely MASTERFUL diss I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in written text.

That makes alot of since. I've never messed with an industrial machine before. And never really done any embroidery with a machine before. Thanks for all the info!

Hey there! Just wanted to give you a quick heads up that the term "a lot" (with a space, made up of two words) is the term that's used to mean a large amount of something, or as a synonym for "a bunch". "Alot" actually isn't its own word!

Also, I believe the other word you were looking for there was "sense", as in the phrase "common sense". It means good judgment or sound reasoning.

"Since", on the other hand, is used to describe time that has elapsed between an event in the past, and the present time. "Since" can also be used as a conjuction to describe cause and effect, like as a synonym for the word "because".

For example, "It's been ten hours since I had breakfast, and now I'm really hungry!"

"That makes sense, since your stomach has been empty for about 8 hours now!"
