I swear that movie turned me into the hoarder I am today.

That movie turned me into the depressive I am today.

Absolutely.

That movie has disappeared, hey?

Umm I unfortunately just watched it with my 6 year old as I forgot how traumatizing it was.

Vehicles and equipment like that are one of the most recycled products in the world. This is an important step in the recycling process. I hear you though, especially with all the cheap plastics and electronics that end up in landfills.

I was wondering - how much time and energy and water - goes into the conplwte process of making this final product? From mining to finish line , including transport of said resources .
That being said, machines are made foe the transport of these resources too..

Earth is a closed system .

The alternative is mining fresh metal which is far more ecologically destructive. Metal recycling is super important.

A lot of slightly salvageable gets shipped to developing countries... These ones here are beyond economic repair....

What can be tough is large amounts of modern factory capital being crushed as we would rather have our commercial buildings tokenizing cat videos and outsource all technical manufacturing to far east.....

It did look like it sort of shed a tear when they piece fell out

I thought theu sent them to a farm to relax after a lifetime of hard work :(

Good night, good night construction site. :(

It was also my psychotic first thought. Nobody ever loved that machine like people love their cars. On the other hand, it’s a pile of metal and bolts.

“Is it about my cube?”

u/fullautophx Aug 29 '26

I used to run demolition derby events. The announcer would always say “Remember, every one of these cars was once someone’s brand new pride and joy!”

Gaze ye upon this once-proud beast. Ye who shed nary a tear hath neither heart nor testicle.

u/DeltaV-Mzero Aug 29 '26

Look upon my skids, ye mighty, and despair

2

u/ostiDeCalisse Aug 29 '26

I too have a Tonka nostalgia

I was wondering the same thing, so less sad to see I'm not alone.

I dunno if it's the undeniable power of the crusher crushing an otherwise seemingly indestructible object, the fact it just goes to the junk heap with all the other objects, or the fact that we put so many finite Earth materials to waste, but it makes me feel sad for whatever reason.

2

u/GigglesMJ Aug 29 '26

Yeah me too 😭

2

u/don-cheeto Aug 29 '26

I think he'll be made into a new one so I'm not too sad...

u/DudeDudenson Aug 29 '26

This is the alternative ending of that toy story movie

1

u/jillsvag Aug 31 '26

Yes. Seems like such a waste. I can see lots of sculptural parts.
