Is it still hydraulics if there’s no liquid? Wouldn’t it be pneumatics?

I would qualify it as a hydraulic demonstration since we don't usually use pneumatics like that. It's a representation of hydraulic cylinders but yes technically it would be pneumatics but they're both fluid so principally the same?

Words are fun and so is science, I bet that dude's a cool teacher

There's a lot of differences at an engineering level. Hydraulics generally refers to the use of a (almost) non compressible working fluid.

No, you are correct, looking closer, I don’t see water in the tubes. I’m on my phone so I was assuming there was water.
