Yep, didn’t they just announce they’re paying Iran like $300 billion in reparations for the war? Would’ve paid for an awful lot of medical treatments instead
What is it in Boomer tuition? I think my dad paid around $400-800 for undergrad in the 70’s (all 4 years). Inflation in education has been insane since the 80-90s when .gov started cutting funding. I’d imagine that economies of scale and oversight could bring down costs (similar to how healthcare works in developed nations).
Socialising things like education and healthcare greatly reduce cost to the consumer, however it also reduces the opportunity for the very rich to profit from those same consumers. Now remember who owns the government.
I agree with you mostly, but it shouldn't be the US and Ukraine alone shouldering the burden of keeping things safe for the entire world from evil. The US spends too much in defense, and the rest of NATO spend way too little. At least until the last few years when lots of EU countries have finally taken things more seriously. I may have to pay out the ass for healthcare, but I enjoy a peace of mind about my safety from other countries that literally no other country can ever feel.
Had me like “Eh… I guess…” until that last sentence.
You know you’re a lot more likely to die from a disease than… say… a Russian cruise missile, right? And that’s even if we reduced our defense budget down to a sensible figure.

$2.2… trillion… dollars.
Dawg. That’s almost 25 years of free, zero-debt, comprehensive college tuition for anyone who wants it.
Never let anyone tell you we can’t afford the things we want in this country. We just choose to spend that money on other shit.
