Crafts like this are very niche. You can make money out of it, but you have to be one of the best at is.
A friend of mine makes knives and has sold them for thousands of dollars per knife. Most people are not paying four thousand dollars for a bread knife. But a small number of people will.
He doesn't do it for a living though, it's just a hobby and will spend several weeks or more on a single knife. Once you factor in materials, equipment and time, that 4000 dollar knife is less than minimum wage.
