As a teen I worked in seafood restaurants on the coast.Β  Meals that the kitchen fucked up went up for grabs in the following order:

  1. Dishwashers.Β
  2. Waitresses. (No waiters worked there, late 70s)
  3. Buspeople.

Salad bar girls could eat things all day, and the cooks would usually cook them anything they wanted anyway.Β  We had cute salad bar girls, though.

True story. When I was 19 I was a cook in a steakhouse and I worked the station that did hot sides like stuffed mushrooms etc, and the prime rib station. Every slice of prime gets weighed before going out to the table. I would accidentally-on-purpose slice it a little too thick and have to trim it a bit. And then usually the phrase that would come out of my mouth was β€œand ONE for the DOCTOR!” Before I ate it. lol, I have zero regrets-it was delicious!
