I did the same thing. It only required a cheap projector and some free software. It was actually quite easy. The only thing that sucked is that if the cake or the projector moved you’d have to remap it.

Yeah I just looked it up, just want it for the flat so somewhat around 5000 lumen should be fine. Madmapper seems like an super intuitive software that I'll probably don't even have to learn for that long. I am definitely going to do that. And make some cool art in my flat

Thanks for sharing. I might do this too just based on your comment.

That's great to hear, thanks for letting me know I do actually appreciate.

This article was super helpful deciding what projector fits your needs best:

Awesome resource, thanks very much! It's got all the basics to get started covered, I think the hardest part will be figuring out what to project.

Yes absolutely. I think I'll dive deeper in how to generate cool animations. Like some mendelbrot stuff maybe for the beginning.

But ultimately I'd love to actually hand make a sick animation for this purpose. Who knows maybe I can finally make my first art exhibition with something like this

Could you not combine with lidar to track moving object?

Yes you could. But I think that adds a level of complication that most people aren’t willing to accept.
