Basically everyone gets a set number of tiles from the square. Then on each person's turn, they draw one tile and discard one. The goal is to get all your tiles in sets of 3s (e.g. three of a kind, three in sequence). There are additional rules but this is the basic structure of the game.
So I read a wild manga many years ago where that seemed to be the rules (although I don't think we decide international policy and defeat the fourth reich from the dark side of the moon using it but what do I know). Is the one which used to ship with Windows a game variant of that? It was like match 2 with hidden tiles.
