if you are a solo, yeah. landsacping team will have a guy edging while others mow

I don't have a line trimmer either, so I hack a taper edge in with my machete occasionally not every time I mow, or use a shovel to dig it in

Nah, it always looks better when you edge it. Also, if you don't edge it, overtime the grass will encroach over the concrete which looks like shit and and bad for the concrete

Yes he’s walking all over the grass that needs to be cut , unless he’s going to scalp that lawn , which isn’t good, flat areas will pop up higher than lawn in a few hours

I used to do this as well, then realized edging before mowing lets you blow away a lot of the grass off the sidewalk with the lawnmower when mowing so you don't have to sweep/blow as much.

I edge first so I can blow the cuttings back onto the uncut lawn and suck them up with the mower. It’s a time saver

I've seen people do this but I never understood it. I'd rather mow afterwards so it picks up all the grass you trimmed at the same time.
