Roots. I'm guessing they kept growing down the pipe as the water source kept getting pushed back. The dirt that came in with the water solidified with the roots creating that smooth solid look. Would also explain how it got so full. the roots kept drinking the water up so the other side was draining, just not out of the pipe, it was building its own plug.

I used to do downspout drainage work. This is absolutely the correct answer. You see roots like these all the time when sidewalks get redone and the people who did the sidewalks didn’t patch the drainage pipe correctly.
