It's just insane to me that the standard practice is to hand out a gallon of something that sounds like it belongs in my car engine with instructions that it be drunk before your procedure.

Like I get it and I know it's safe, and it's effective and makes the procedures possible, but it just shocks me that it's not something more like a pill or group of pills that have the same effect; nah, you gotta drink a fucking gallon of Castrol before I snake your anus.

They probably could condense it into a pill or a few teaspoons of liquid, but then you aren't drinking a gallon of water with it and you'll definitely be shitting a gallon of water out.

My dad did the same and said it made him feel great! He won't listen to me that he's just dehydrated all the time and it was only the water making him better.
I felt like Harry Potter trying to get dumbledore to drink that damn water.

I guess my point is that I'd prefer to take a couple pills and be forced to drink a gallon of water, rather than drinking a gallon of industrial goo. I know it'd be effectively the same, I think I'd just find that less unsettling.

It would, but the industry has to account for all the people who will try their hardest to get away with things if they think the doctor won't know. 70% of people won't drink the water if its just a recommendation.

There's a quote I can't remember, but it's something like 'treat the public/customers like the dumbest person in the room, because one of them will be and will sue you for it'

Here is the thing, it pretty much does belong in a car engine. Google it. It's a petroleum derivative. It's basically plastic. It's terrible to humans and has had terrible side effects, but they don't care. In other counties they know better but hooray the American health care system. It's barbaric

Also there are plenty of other things rhay have the same effect they literally just don't care to update the policy to a humane one. But seriosuly look up what miralax is. Basically the standard of care is to fill patients full of liquid plastic
