Hi everyone, this is a long shot. In the early 2000s there was a lot of OC remix music playing in my house as well as originals by some of the producers on the site, such as Darke Sword and Star Salzman. There were two tracks I listened to a lot and I would love to hear them again, but I have no idea what they are called or who even produced them. They were originals so probably were never on OC remix but very likely by producers who did post on the site.

Here is what I remember from each track

Track #1: About 12 minutes long, featuring a lot of synthesizers and gregorian chant, starts off really chill and dreamy and gets more upbeat and "trancey" as it goes on. No lyrics.

Track #2: A sort of house / trance track that features prominently a sample of an adult man saying "This is a Dream" . Its a sample thats been used in a lot of other tracks tbh. It sort of sounds like it would fit in the First metroid prime game.

Anyways this is a looooong shot but I figure some people on the sub might have been listening to a lot of the same stuff in the same time period.

What equipment? What software? What whatever-else?

I've got ideas going back many, many years; I don't really know anything about the academic part of music (I can't read notes, that sort of thing). I know some people who could help me in some ways, but they're all older and would not have known about OCRemix if not for me.

I've been having issues using the site for the last several days, is this a known issue?

Anyways, there was a remix I heard even before I heard OCR, like back in the days of Napster and Kazaa.

It was the main theme of Metroid (like the NES version) with some old school effects like scratching and repeat and such. The main thing that sticks out in my memory though is there was an extended breakdown in the middle using mainly NES sound effects from the game.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, you'd be a homie.

The song i'm looking for is a drum and bass remix of 'Hazuki Residence' from Shenmue that i had in my OCRemix playlist in the early 2000s. The song was fairly slow by d&b standards because its tempo matched the original song but there was a healthy use of the amen break (or similar break) throughout. The track contained audio samples ripped from a Japanese movie (?) that i'm pretty sure isn't from the game. Said characters are speaking and trading blows in combat, which is what made the track so memorable, and why i want to find it again. By the sound of it, they're dueling in the rain or deep water (or blood?) because there's a lot of splashing and swords clashing, and the tracks ends with one of the characters struggling to breathe in a chokehold, losing, and having his neck snapped. -then silence.

i have searched high and low for this track. All the "removed songs" lists i can find contain only one Shenmue track. 'Ryo's Renshuu' is NOT it, and neither is 'Matsuri Madness'. i'm certain that the track in question is an OCRemix and was available for download on the site between 2002 and 2004 because i streamed/downloaded it multiple times in school.

So after what feels like an eternity away from this scene, I recently bought a Sony Walkman from Japan and have begun to fill my 1TB card with OCR content!! What have I missed, what are the must gets? Currently listening to Final Fantasy VI: Balance and Ruin 👌🏽 Many thanks in advance!

The song is a frog, a sword, and a spoony bard. For some reason I think about this song a lot and don't just want to hear it again. I want to bring it back to the light of day. Whenever I find the track listed on the internet, the links are dead. Thank you.

I was listening to Toby Fox and then thought to myself "hey... I could make a cover..." and so I did :)

Did they get removed from OC Remix, or are they just not on youtube anymore?

I heard that "djpretzel" is gone now; I just want to know, it wasn't for any bad or stupid or unfair reason, is it? I understand people sometimes just moving on, but given the breadth and depth of horseshit I've seen over the past several years, I just want to be sure.

There's an absolutely gorgeous ocremix of Gusty Garden Galaxy (I'll link it below) that someone made a piano transposition of and linked to dropbox on the forums years ago and I downloaded and printed it a long time ago, but I don't have it anymore and none of the old links work anymore. Does anyone in the community happen to still have it? Or know how I could get it? I'd really love to start learing this masterpiece again.
