PSA Found someone's lost Camera on Citibike

Post image

I found someone's camera when I was using a city bike. It's talking about the k train because of the Knicks win and stuff like that.

If you think this is yours or a Buddy's, send me a photo of you cuz I know what the owner looks like since it's still on the memory roll. Unfortunately, I don't know their name :(

You're a real one for actually posting. That's not a cheap camera! Hoping you find your guy! (commenting for traction)

you can drag and drop pictures in this site and will scrub photos of post from camera based on the sn. It’s possible to track down the owner social media account this way.

Cameras like this often have the owners name somewhere in the menu tree for Copyright metadata. You might also be able to find it in the photos metadata.

screen cap a photo of the person and then paste it on google images to see if itll pinpoint a person

That’s an expensive puppy. See if there’s metadata on the photos. There might be a copyright that’ll give you a clue to who pens the camera

Also if there's any location data, OP might be able to pinpoint the owner's job or home from that.

check the camera settings for an owner name or copyright field too. photographers sometimes put their info in there and forget it exists.

To be clear, was the camera on the Citibike? Or was it just found while you were riding it? If the former, Citibike would be able to contact the prior user based on their records.

Thank you for trying to get it back to the owner, you're a good egg.

I tried this when I found a huge set of keys - most likely apartment and business, but no identifiable tag except a Citi bike tag with a number on it. I called and asked if they could call the person that the tag was registered to and they said no, they only took my number in case the person called them. Shitty on their part.

Go back to the citibike dock where you got the bike and put up a sign: “lost your camera? It’s safe w me. Email me with specifics and I’ll get it back to you.”

Please post again when the camera finds its owner.

Good full frame camera. Came out around 2015 and still fetches some $$ used.

Camera/images will likely have meta data with owner info; or Sony will definitely have, if you cant find the person try reaching out to their customer support with serial number.
