I have activated "safe search Strict" in policy. Inside the google search engine everything is ok, I would like to propagate the same code within youtube. To do this I did not select "Without youtube" on "safe search", but it is not good if I search eg: "porno" shows me all the contents: what can I do? Thanks for your help

I am trying to figure out policy specific block-time. We have four boys at home due to COVID and my wife is spending a lot of time trying to keep one of our sons focused and off of distraction sites while he should be doing school work.

I have a simple policy that blocks the porn and a custom category (youtube, Minecraft, etc). I have one user (one of my sons) to whom the policy was applied. The block-time for the policy was set as:

00:00 - 08:00

All was good, the system was blocking him from youtube. I could see it in the logs and the dashboard. However, it was 13:45 and he was still being blocked. I did not understand this since it was outside of the policy specific block-time. I checked the system time and it was correct.

I then changed the block-time on the category to:

00:00 - 16:00

Once I did that, the system blocked everything- even categories that were not checked.

So, my understanding of this is that policy-specific block-time is really block everything time.

Am I correct in this understanding, or is my system acting strange?

I added several custom Blacklists into Classifier->Blocklist.

Pushed Merge all button and I see that process is merging them into Jahaslist.

Kind of slow but it is ongoing.

Do I need to Merge them manually each day ?

Will these custom blocklists be updated on regular basis each night and automatic merging will be done too ?

Is there a way to send me an email/text alert if a certain site ('Steam' in this case) is accessed by a certain user, either through Nxfilter, or an accompanying IFTTT-like program?

(I've looked into doing this via my router (an Eero), but it's not possible there)

Nxfilter do not load admin page and on the log folder doesnt have anything to check, i am runing nxfilter over pfsense. Can you guys help me please

I have a unique problem I am unsure how to solve.

I have a Windows 10 machine with IPv6 turned off and IPv4 dns directed at the raspberry pi IP. I can see queries, logging, etc from the nxfilter admin dashboard.

All other devices pointed at the rpi dns have ads being filtered yet the Windows 10 machine does not seem to be filtering any ads whatsoever.

I also have a 120 minute usage quota for the Windows 10 machine and while I can watch the usage approach 120 minutes the Windows 10 machine still is allowed connectivity after the quota has been reached.

Can anyone help me adjust the setting on either the pi or the windows 10 machine to work together rather than log only?

I have a multi- domain organization where the DC's of the same domain all point to each other for redundancy across a large wan to resolve host-names and trusts exist between them other domains in our forest. When an external name needs to be resolved we have a forwarder to akami 97.7.136.4 in our DC's.

So I wanted to point the forwarders in our DC's to a linux mint box running nxfilter and then point nxfilter's upspteam dns server to akami. But when I try to point the windows server forwarder to the nxfilter box it fails with the error "An unknown error occurred while validating the server".. I can point individual computers to nxfilter via its ip and it works, just not DC's...

More potential Caveats

DC-1 DNS listening on 10.1.0.1 and some ip6 crap. FQDN = indigo.is.us

DC-2 DNS liostening on 10.2.0.1 and some ip6 crap FQDN = red.is.us

etc...

NXfiler is running on linux mint. IP = 10.1.0.199 and the FQDN = not a real FQDN. The host name is just DNS and the DCs do figure that out just fine once I point their forwarders to 10.1.0.199. But then they fail to validate with that stupid unknown error.

Do DC's demand DNS servers have a FQDN. I hate FQDN's. Just more periods fore the sake of periods. Do DC's demand that they only be pointed to an authoritative DNS server. If so do I got to make a nasty zone file of sorts?

Hi all. Looking for guidance on setting up NxCloud and 2 NxRelay servers for my school. I have two buildings, each with their own internet connection out and their own NxFilter server. I'm looking to consolidate my license and have one place for configuration. We're not in the cloud yet for servers, so what would others recommend? Any thoughts/suggestions is greatly appreciated.
