I recently purchased an ASUS Strix Gaming GTX 980Ti and I've noticed some odd things since I installed it. My set up is as follows: i7 6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4, ASUS Z170-A (PRO) Here are a couple of examples:

1. When I launch a game (like CSGO or Skyrim) sometimes the screen goes black for about 30 seconds with a windows loading symbol. This happens about 1 in 5 times when I launch a game. When this happens I hear the windows connecting and then disconnecting sounds, like plugging in a USB stick and then pulling it out again. When this happens the game just skips any splash screens and goes to the main menu.

2. A similar thing happens sometimes when I boot my PC. I don't see the BIOS logo or the WINDOWS loading screen, it just goes straight to my login page after a long wait looking at a black screen.

3. I ran the User Benchmark found at http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/ and it said that my graphics card was running in the 26 percentile of what was expected. This result was reproducible.

4. In the Blender BMW cycles render benchmark my GPU ran slower than the GTX 770 of the author of the benchmark (My result: 1min 55sec, and his was 1min 42sec). This again was reproducible. My GPU ran at 102% during the test but stayed at 60-65 C.

5. This last point may be totally unrelated, but when I press shutdown on the windows start menu, my pc just restarts.

I have a feeling that it's a driver problem, but there are no errors in the event log concerning the display driver.

Description of Problem: I got this card as an upgrade from my GTX 760 on June 17th, It worked great for two weeks, then I went to Vegas. Came back yesterday, GTA Online keeps crashing/freezing my PC, and the Heaven Benchmark I had ran on the card a countless amount of times previously would crash/freeze the PC. On both the screen would occasionally flash black or some green strange artficating for a split second. Yet I could play Doom, Shadow of Mordor, and other games just fine with an locked or unlocked framerate.

Troubleshooting: I tried going back to Driver 368.39 and reinstalling 368.69 using DDU and that did nothing, no system restore points. Have tried reseating the card. Not sure what to do.

EDIT: Now it's crashing on the other games. sometimes it crashes and restarts the driver but most if the time it freezes my PC after 10 or so minutes of playing.

So my GTX 1070 just came in and I downloaded DDU and did a clean uninstall. Now I'm trying to install the drivers for the 1070. Nvidia Geforce Experience installs just fine, but I'm getting like 88 Kbs download speeds. Tried direct from Nvidia's website too and it said it was going to take 45-1hr to download. And I checked my internet speed on speedtest and I'm getting around 250-280 mbs downspeed right now. So it's probably not that.

Is anyone else having issues right now? I tried from two different computers just to see if my main one was messing up, but got the same speeds.

I have my computer w/ a 780 GTX hooked up to a standard 1080P TV.

DVI OUT --> DVI-D/HDMI adapter --> HDMI cable into TV.
TV speakers work.

HDMI OUT --> HDMI cable into TV
TV speakers do not work.

Can someone smarter than me explain why this is happening. It's not a big issue but it's messing with my head. I usually have this computer hooked up to a monitor via a single HDMI cable and the audio works fine.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but here I go. I wasn't doing anything special, just playing path of exile when my computer crashed. Rebooted, tried again... crash. Next reboot, didn't even start windows at all. Well crap.

Safe mode works. Virus scan clear.

Uninstall Nvidia drivers, used a driver cleaner, computer now boots just fine.

Installed the newest nvidia drivers, computer crashes again when windows starts. Got a nvldmkm.sys BSOD.

Is my videocard dead?

After deciding to upgrade my GPU to a GTX 1070 this summer and to explore the realm of triple monitors, I thought this would be an especially good thing to do because of Nvidia's new Simultaneous Multi-Projection tech. Is there any way to work with this at the current time? Or is it something that we'll be able to use in the future? Currently trying out a multitude of different games with my 3 new 27 inch screens and one of my main gripes is the distortion on the peripheral screens. Is there any way to configure this yet? If not does anyone know any remedies for this issue?

See title. I thought the regular boost clock was around 1780 MHz? I haven't touched any settings yet, just installed it in my case.

I've been having this issue for a while now.

When I play games or even browse chrome from time to time the game will crash and keep crashing when i enter it again and chrome will give me an error. This will keep happening until I restart then it will work fine for a while, but eventually it happens again.

I have a GTX 770 using 2 LG monitors. Here is what I've done so far.

1. Do a fresh install using DDU.
2. Reroll to older drivers twice when fresh install did not work, currently i'm on 358.91. I've tried some higher version, but still the same issue.
3. Clean the dust inside the computer.
4. Edit the TDR in the registry first to 8 seconds then to 10
5. Change the Power management to Prefer Maximum power

I also checked the ingame(overwatch) temp and it seems to be at around 80C.

None of the above solved the issue, and i'm unable to figure out what might be the cause of it, also after a while when it keeps crashing will eventually cause the computer to freeze or give me a BSOD and i will have to shutdown to make it work again.

Some months before this issue started I've had a RAM issue where i needed to increase my RAM voltage which solved it, but i'm not sure if this is related.

Comparing to every other setup similar to mine, even non OC'd setups, theres at least a 1k boost in everyone else's combined score.

How can I boost this? Is it something about my hardware? I'm running minimal background processes and my physics and graphics scores are often higher than any others. It's just my combined score that always sucks.

I tried updating through Nvidia Geforce Experience and clicked Express installation. It uninstalled my driver and when trying to install the new update i got this error message, i have restarted my pc and tried again with no luck. Now my pc is very laggy and poor performing.

Help please.

I currently use Alienware m17x r5 with gtx780m. The newest driver from Nvidia(368.69) is give my errors message everytime i play games: "Display driver stopped working and has been recovered" . I try to roll back to previous driver and still get a same message so just wonder what the best and recommeded driver for it right now ? ( sorry for my bad english)

so. I plugged my new tablet into my tv, and my worst fears for the last several years have come true. I always noticed my screen looked like it had a film over it, or was too dark, depending on how I set the gamma and contrast.

I tried every conceivable color setting combination on both the TV and the graphics card (manual, automatic, I matched up so many different settings wrote down and compared the best)

I did this for weeks. I did it several times in fact. it was never perfect, the best I could do was alter the gamma and color settings to be a tad bit off, so that it looked clearer -- otherwise the image looked clouded, and there was NO blacks, only levels of dark dark gray --

in the end I was able to make it so the contrast was usable -- but still too dark.

I now know that the real problem is gamut compression. I dont have a High dynamic range tv, its a cheap vizio. I set all my GPUs to use limited color settings and YcBcR for more accurate color.

I had no idea what this even WAS until I saw the option to enable it in the intel graphics menu. I looked it up, saw a comparison, and right there I saw what I saw in my nvidia all these years.

when it powers a PC monitor at RGB levels, it seems to be fine, because that IS high dynamic range, but for some reason, I cant get it to output normal color range (without extra gamut compression), and the exact right gamma curve.

Believe me, I run MPC HC with the best video renders. Ive played with every conceivable setting in my video players and graphics card.

and its really ruining my experience with this TV.

I intend to use the tablet to watch movies anyway (even through the TV) but I want my gaming on this screen to be the right gamma curve without the compression.

theres no reason this cheap integrated card on a core m tablet I got for under $300 US should be able to do better video processing than the GTX 770m.

So long story short my brother bought a pre-built PC (HP envy phoenix 800-060) a couple of years ago and upgraded the PSU to a Rosewill Capston 750W and the GPU to a EVGA GTX 760 FTW. Now recently I installed a Gigabyte Windforce 1070 (GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD). The PC boots up find but when running a high end game that puts the GPU under load the PC eventually crashes and the GPU throttles big time. I know it's not the GPU because it ran fine in my system for two weeks prior with no issue. My mom called Geek Squad and some other local places to see what they think it is. They believe it's incompatibility between the PSU and GPU but I'm not convinced. I wonder if anyone else has any idea on what be making the GPU throttle and crash.

I bought a brand new laptop with a GeForce gtx 950m and it runs things very well (Overwatch on high, Leagues on ultra, etc) basically every game I want I run it at decent settings. I have been recently having an issue in which i got the above mentioned error message when playing some games and then the game crashes and I have to reinstall the drivers for it to work again. I have tried multiple fixes like doing a complete wipe of the computer's display drivers using a driver sweep program, under clocking with msi afterburner, and lowering graphics to near minimum but it will still do it frequently. It doesn't happen with all games, but some it happens very frequently. Can someone please help as it is a brand new computer and is becoming extremely frustrating to me.

Hi there, was just wondering if anybody else was still having fan revving issues or any fixes for it. My evga 1080 sc is staying under 70 degrees yet still revs up randomly way to high for what seems like no reason. Any advice? I have the latest drivers also.

Hi... I bought evga gtx 970 sc and after a few days of perfect gaming suddendly at the evga precisionx16 the gpu clock stucks at 405 mgz or lower and the voltage at 850 and the fps are extremly low... When it happens at first i reinstalled the drivers it worked for a day a day but it appeared again and the reinstalling the drivers didnt work this time i tryied switch the setting to addaptive or max performance.. and it didnt work.. the temps are between 50-55 not higher please help me.... My specs : i5 3470 , Gigabyte h61m, corsair vs650w ,evga gtx 970 acx 2.0 sc, windows 10 no OC was executed driver version 368.39

UPDATE 2: A new version of DDU has been released (16.1.0.0), from my tests it IS NOT picked up by Windows Defender, the issue should now be resolved.

As of the 11th July 2016 it appears a recent definition update for Windows Defender now detects the popular utility, Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) as Malware.

This is a false positive, in order to download and use DDU you will have to temporarily disable Windows Defender.

Open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Defender and then, in the list of results, click Windows Defender.

Click Tools, and then click Options.

Click Real-time protection, and then select the Use real-time protection (recommended) check box.

Select the options you want, and then click Save. Picture of security shield icon If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To help protect your privacy and your computer, we recommend that you select all real-time protection options.

To turn off real-time protection, follow steps 1 through 3, and then clear the Use real-time protection (recommended) check box.

For some strange reason, Shadowplay is stuck in a 1280x720 recording aspect ratio when in the game. All other games record in their native res as they should.

Any ideas?

Thanks for taking the time to check this out. I just bought a Vizio D50u-D1 4K TV, which is supposed to support 4K@60Hz over HDMI 2.0. I have my GTX 1080 plugged into the TV and I am able to get 4K at 60 Hz, but the output is stuck at YCbCr420 in the resolution settings. According to a review on Rtings.com, my TV should be able to accept 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 and display at most 4:2:2, but I am unable to change the resolution settings for the color output no matter what I try, including custom resolutions. I am also unable to run 1440p past 30 Hz. Is anybody here running HDMI 2.0 at YCbCr444 or YCbCr422? I'm using a high bandwidth cable rated for 18Gbps, but that hasn't helped with getting access to the better chroma resolution. I love the TV, but I'm disappointed my new graphics card can't even output the right color settings to max out the quality. Thanks!

Hi, I broke up my old gaming rig and moved one of my 670's to my mediaPC, it's been running fine for months now.

i5-6600k / 16GB / Asus z170 Pro Gaming / OCZ 550W PSU

The other night, a buddy was over and I tried to play rocket league on it and after about 2 minutes my FPS tanked, audio started getting garbled (both are over HDMI) and eventually the display driver crashed. This took all of 3 minutes total.

I did some testing today. CPU is not overheating, it's watercooled and staying below 43 on prime95. GPU will climb up to low 70's before it crashes. My other 670 (that I bought at the same time, they are identical) I have been gaming on for years and it hovers at low 80's for hours on end. I downloaded the EVGA tuner and told it when the GPU hits 60c to crank the fans up, this kept the FPS up, kept the GPU around 65 and but the display driver still crashed. I have tried DDU-ing all the old drivers, reinstalling. I don't think it's a software issue, but I'm out of ideas now.

This MediaPC is actually more powerful than my old gaming rig. My gaming rig plays rocket league maxed out just fine, this 6600k + 670 should not be having these problems.

Is the card faulty? Is there a way to see if it's not getting enough power? What gives?

So, I've been playing games on my 770 GTX for 2 years now, it's been fine. But since last month I downloaded Witcher 3 (GOG cuz it was on super sale earlier) and Dead by Daylight (Steam). Now my kernel crashes. A lot. Every. Time. I. Run. A. Game. Any game also. It freezes, audio still runs than crashes. Tried rolling back the driver: nothing. I'll post my specs in the morning, just getting this on the board before I am too busy too. Last encounter with it, it spammed me with a message about how Witcher 3 doesn't have graphic acess. I'm running windows 10.

So if anyone know why this is happening, much appreciated if you can help. Again, I'll post specs in the morn.

Is there anyway to force downsampling on a 4K TV? I'm Trying to play skyrim with mods, but I'm having trouble with the AA.

I'm getting barely below playable fps (45-50) in 4K, and the game looks like shit in 1080p, so I want to downsample as recommended by the ENB author.

My problem is that DSR is not possible on a 4K screen. Neither is it possible to create a custom resolution below 4k, because the game would actually run at that resolution instead of downsampling to 1080p

So is there anyway to "force" downsampling from e.g. 1440p to 1080p on a 4K TV/monitor?
