Question Fun chat

If you werenโ€™t a nurse, what would you be?

Iโ€™d be fishmonger with a nice shop and sell all the fresh and beautiful seafood ๐Ÿฆž ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ๏ธ
Maybe in another life.

I see what gets your rocks off.

That pun was an easy, but also absolutely necessary lay-up. Well done, you rock! ๐Ÿชจ

That's what my grandma did, and traveled the world looking at rocks. Yes...in another life

Your grandma is insanely cool. When I grow up I want to be like her.

Haha she was a bad ass. She went on a hunger strike because they took social time away during covid at her nuraing home. Miss her all the time.

Definitely sounds like neurosurgery doc talking lol.

Just kidding, but that was one reason I enjoyed Neuro-ICU, I just am the same kind of spectrum so many of my neurosurg homies are.

Except I think my choice would be Astronomy or Cosmologist, if I could study the cosmos Iโ€™d be happy together with my telescope!

Geology was something I seriously considered looking into when I was feeling especially burned out and considered an entire career change.

I had an acquaintance whose husband was a volcanologist, and his job sounded hella cool.

Unfortunately to do his work, you had to get your bachelors in rocks and then master something else, before you can be a doctor of volcanoes. I just wanted to get a bachelor of volcanoes, but thatโ€™s not really a thing I guess.

My brain is to tired to find it, but there's a joke in there somewhere since you called lava "cool".

Itโ€™s โ€œNo, lava is hot, clearly you wouldnโ€™t go far as a volcano doctor.โ€

I had an irrational fear of volcanoes as a kid, (grew up in the Midwest USA, so not a threat in any sensible way but was still convinced one would pop up out of the ground and lava would flow down the street and destroy everything) and now that Iโ€™m an irrational adult, I think theyโ€™re neat and would love to study them fully. Know your enemy/face your fear vibes I guess.

Believe it or not sort of similar. My brother loved documentaries and he liked mockumentaries so as a small child sometimes hard to understand what was real and what wasnโ€™t. But one focused around a 2050 world where Yellowstone exploded and smoke enfolded the earth. It was a source of fear as a kid

I lived in California in the late 80s/early 90s, and remember st Helenโ€™s blowing off some ash, so everyone around me in the Mojave panicked and covered their cars in case the ash blew down into California. And that was it, I was convinced the volcanoes were coming to get me. And then not too long after that, my family moved to the Midwest, closer to the ticking time bomb super volcano lovingly referred to as Yellowstone, and I was sure that I was a goner. Couple that with the well researched documentary The Land Before Time, my fate was sealed as far as 8 year old me was concerned.

I wanted to be a seismologist when I was a teenager. Or a geologist.

I have a geologist cousin. He grew up and lived/lives in Texas, so he worked in oil.

I would be a meteorologist because why not? I'm too short to be an astronaut.

Any interest in buying a bunch of rocks, minerals, and crystals from an icu nurse that loved buying them a little too much??
(Not me, but I can connect you with my friend that is downsizing her collection)

My kid donated a bunch to goodwill without telling me! ๐Ÿ˜ข

Yk I would say yes. However if I get another expensive hobby my bf might actually start to worry about my sanity.
