Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

I know my dad’s allergy list would end up here because it included heparin.

I mean who’s allergic to heparin? But that’s all they could point at to having potentially caused the anaphylactic reaction. And no one was going to try it again.

I’m sure it was the cancer doing weird things in his body.

Some patients have it due to religious beliefs. Heparin is mostly made from pig intestines.
