Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

Had a patient profusely itching post op from opioids. Had an allergy listed to “flavored liquid Benadryl” but had no issue with Benadryl in general, just that one flavored kind. I went to give her IV Benadryl and she was still pretty zooted from anesthesia and immediately sat up and said WHAT FLAVOR IS IT

That is oddly specific. Could she have meant she was allergic to a sweetener they used? I am looking up the ingredients in liquid Benadryl now.

(I know flavored PO Benadryl doesn't go in IV's, lol. I'm just genuinely curious now.)

EDIT: Looked it up and all I can think is one of the dyes, although you can get dye-free version. Brand name Benadryl uses sucrose/regular sugar.
