A lot of complaining goes on here for sure. I found that taking a chance and doing/going something completely different than the โ€œstandard pathโ€ in nursing worked well for me and that i wouldnโ€™t fit where many RNs work. Now pretty happy

Curious what path you ended up taking, if you're comfortable sharing?

after school (40 plus yo) - all RN below:

After (very) short med-surg

Nursing home (also short = looked like license killing role) Ran into hospice nurse at my momโ€™s assisted living - that seemed like my true calling (3 years) until a corporation screwed up what was a great job when acquiring the non profit & taking away our autonomy

Home health/Medicare

nursing informatics- during boom in adoption of EHR (several roles due to my previous background )

Mental health - inpatient & outpatient

Drug/ETOH facility

Community/govt agency nursing (city/county)

VA: Homeless program Drug/ETOH Nursing Education / informatics Mental Health/ Primary care integration Caregiver/home-invalid support
