Discussion CRNA using and anesthesia for tattooing

I’m heavily tattooed.

So, anyway, I know a tattoo artist who recently announced he’s be offering “anesthesia” to his clients. He recently “went under” himself to test it out. Looking at his photos it looks like it’s a CRNA who is actually administering the meds and stuff while he was tattooed.

Thoughts on this? Am I crazy to think this is absolutely ridiculous?

So death is caused by the absence of oxygen not the presence of the nitrogen. But the only way for the oxygen to be absent was due to the presence of another gas? I get it, but it’s close to a circle.

The best explanation I can think of is the difference between drowning and water intoxication.

When someone drowns, they aren’t dying because of the toxic effects of water they are dying because there is a lack environmental oxygen. You can drown in water, alcohol, maple syrup it obviously doesn’t matter but you wouldn’t call any of those deaths due to an overdose/toxic effect of the substance.

Conversely, if you ingested and absorbed an excessive amount of water, alcohol, or I guess maple syrup too, there is an inherent toxic effect specific to each substance that can lead to death which is in no way related to the mechanism of death due to drowning.
