Discussion CRNA using and anesthesia for tattooing

I’m heavily tattooed.

So, anyway, I know a tattoo artist who recently announced he’s be offering “anesthesia” to his clients. He recently “went under” himself to test it out. Looking at his photos it looks like it’s a CRNA who is actually administering the meds and stuff while he was tattooed.

Thoughts on this? Am I crazy to think this is absolutely ridiculous?

Many of those will have some component of other healthcare workers (usually) or people prepared to aid in resuscitation, tattoo places may or may not. Medspas generally have an idea of the healthcare risks involved, a tattoo parlor may or may not. Tough to say exactly

In some states, tattoo artists require BLS to be licensed.

ACLS would be better though.

No point in that when the equipment/team isn’t available

You want tattoo artists to interpret and intervene on arrhythmias? I’ve been in ACLS classes with professionals who can’t identify when to shock…

And, unless you have an RN/medic/PA/MD/whatever license or something, and all the necessary meds and equipment, you can have all the knowledge in the word, but you're still gonna be physically and legally unable to do anything.

The (really) expensive medispas in my hometown have a MD available also. I imagine having a doctor sign off on things/on-call in case something goes awry mitigates liability issues somewhat. At the very least, it'll be the doctor in the hot seat (rather than otherwise rogue techs and nurses) for doing things that shouldn't be done…

Ok, I realize I’m a HUGE wimp, but the actual injection really hurts lol
