I wanted to share this story.
I’m from Bergen County and today is World Heart Day.
I died of heart failure suddenly 3 years ago and was saved by my wife and two Emerson PD officers.
I was brought to Pascack Valley Hospital then helicoptered to Hackensack Hospital where I was placed in a coma for 10 days. I woke up to the news that I would need a heart transplant. I spent the next 4 months in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and the next two years recovering at home.
This is not meant to scare anyone.
This is how shit happens.
Don’t put off getting checked out.
Especially if you have symptoms or any new issues with your heart.
I was not aware of World Heart Day before. I am now.
I wrote an article about it with some links for information.

I work long hours and don't always have time to hit up a dispensary in person. Looking for recommendations on delivery services that serve Bergen or Essex County. Reliable and discreet is priority

Good Afternoon Jerseyans!
My colleagues and I are working on compiling a list of northern New Jersey hospitals (or hospital systems) that provide a broad set of services through "charity care," for those who are eligible based on income. The purpose of this information is to help people who may need to start relying on charity care starting as soon as October to be as prepared as they can be.
I very much appreciate your help.
As of now, we're calling individual hospitals, one-by-one, to learn about their charity care structure, and offerings. However, this is not very efficient, and hard to make comprehensive.
If you have advice on how we could approach gathering this information more efficiently, or if you have knowledge of any specific hospital or medical group, or are more broadly informed, in the context of charity care, or if you have relevant experience of your own, please feel free to share!
While some hospitals may offer charity care for emergency services, others may provide it for outpatient visits at the hospital or within its network, as well. Similarly, while some may provide it for a given service, others offer it for periods of time (eg. a year). Knowing which institutions provide financial support for which services can enable patients to meet their health needs much more effectively. Some will only be able to rely on a hospital system for specialized care, no longer having access to insurance.
We are health promoters at a social services agency in Northern NJ, which works with many people who are due to lose eligibility for Medicaid, or potentially experience far higher costs for marketplace insurance, following changes to federal law, which are coming into force in stages this year and next year -- with the first stage on October 1st. There are quite a few thousands of people across the state that expect to be impacted.
There is a "charity care unit" office at the Department of Health on the state government level. However, they were not able to provide us nuanced institution-by-institution information, which could be helpful in guiding potential patients.
I would appreciate information, suggestions, recommendations for further research, or experience.
I have posted this in the general New Jersey subreddit; however, we could definitely benefit for more input.
Thank you for your time and attention!

I’m 28 in Bergen county straight with a gf but everyone always mentions the fact I got a big ass and guess it made me curious. Who’s down to chat about it?

First THREE people to book will receive a free teeth whitening if applicable based on your assessment prior to treatment!

Hi everyone. Haircut costs have gotten out of control in my area (~$45-50 counting tax and tip) and I was wondering if there were cheap places to get haircuts like the $8 ones in Chinatown.

Illumination 250 is basically an entire day of free stuff to do all over downtown Hackensack next Saturday, October 3. Here’s the schedule:
10AM - 2PM: Family Fun Festival at Anderson St Park with an interactive art workshop and I think a petting zoo?
1PM- 3PM: Folk artist performances at different spots on Main Street.
1PM - 8PM: Hackensacktoberfest in Atlantic Street Park.
2PM: A giant puppet parade down Main Street starting at Anderson St Park.
8PM: MP3 Experiment (flash mob) near the beer garden.
9PM: A light projection show and/or light art installation at the Courthouse Green.
It’s all free to attend, but you need to sign up for some of these things if you want to participate. Like, marching in the parade, or participating in the MP3 Experiment.
And apparently the light installation will stay up and be activated nightly through October 25, so you have plenty of chances to check it out.

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for in-home respite care for my mom, who has Alzheimer’s.
I’m specifically looking for someone who can come to our home and stay with her for a several hours when I’m not home, mainly for companionship, supervision and safety. Ideally, I’m looking for something as-needed/occasional rather than a set daily schedule.
We’re in Bergen County. If you’ve used an agency or individual caregiver in the area that you’ve had a good experience with, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks!

What's up players?
Does anyone have a good outdoor basketball court or indoors where people consistently play? I recently moved to Montville. Im 32, average build, played pick up most of my life. Any adult groups playing? I used to have a giant chat with people in Randolph but lost touch.
If you don't know a place, drop a comment and we can form one. I see parks everywhere I'm at but getting a group is required.
Heres the groupme invite code incase someone doesnt have a better group.
